Firefox 3.5.2 cpu usage jumping

I asked a few days ago if anyone had run into issues with FF 3.5.2. All responses were positive so I want ahead and upgraded.

The cpu usage is driving me crazy. Making it drag, lag, hang, etc for seconds at a time. Google searchs show others having the same issues. Before I try to roll back to 3.0whateverIwasusing, I wondered if anyone had any suggestions. Even typing this post, I can get about 6 or 7 words out and then it hangs.

Making browsing, link checking, etc.. a total pain in the butt.

I am having all sorts of issues too!!! A bunch of my plugins are not working, it is slow as shit, and freezes whenever it feels like it for about 30 seconds at a time. I also lost all my stored passwords. I'm pissed though, didn't even mean to update it, I clicked it on accident not really paying attention to what I was doing. Is there an easy way to roll back to the older version?????

Vista, HP A6200. Pretty basic comp with a dual core and 2gb of ram

Maybe some ad or malware is causing the cpu load. I had this in Internet Explorer.

Ethersync 08-22-2009 03:22 AM

Since I upgraded to Firefox 3.5.2 I have been having problems too. CPU use, browser crashes, freezing, etc. Really close to dumping FF for Chrome now.

PersianKitty 08-22-2009 03:46 AM

I think I've isolated the problem to an issue between FF 3.5.2 and Flash (10.0.22 and 10.0.32). When I disable the Flash plugin the cpu usage stays fairly even.

Oh joy.

Lol you have better processor then i do.And yes here also sometime memory goes up to 700 mb or start to freeze on heavy operations but works good more less.

3.5.2 is shit, it slows down my dualcore very much!
It stops my internet connection for few minutes, overall big fuck!
Just install some older version like 3.0.11.

woj 08-22-2009 07:23 AM

it must be some bad behaving plugin, as everything works great here...

If you upgrade make sure you stick with XP. Vista is a awful for getting work done.
I just bought a brand new sparking laptop but its almost unusable because it has Vista on it and I hate using it, and some of my adult software doesnt run anymore. So I just bought a $800 paper weight.

just 0.02

Just went through this same prob. I first switched to Chrome, which is way faster than FF, but still had the same issue, on some flash sites, with cpu going through the roof and slowing things down. Ended up removing and reinstalling the flash players and the problem hasn't come back.

TyroneGoldberg 08-22-2009 09:05 AM

it's not just you, it sucks ass.

No, a dual core machine is a dinosaur. Your machine is beginning of time old.

ProG 08-22-2009 10:43 AM

FireFox is dead to me. :( Chrome FTW.

PersianKitty 08-22-2009 11:14 AM

I uninstalled the flash player using Adobe's Uninstaller.. then reinstalled. So far no problem, but if it reoccurs I'll drop back down to a 3.0 version of FF.

There are two Vista desktops and 2 Vista HP laptops in my family. My old dinosaur, my laptop and my younger son's desktop and laptop are all XP or XP pro. Of course I'm always the one that has to deal with problems and errors. The Vista machines drive me crazy. I get them figured out (thank gawd for Google sometimes), but I'll keep this one if it is ever that my choice for a new machine is vista or nothing... forget it.

PersianKitty 08-24-2009 11:25 PM

fyi... I gave up...
reverted back to 3.0.13

Iron Fist 08-24-2009 11:27 PM

Blasphemy! You all take it back what you said about Firefox....

digifan 08-24-2009 11:30 PM

3.5.2 rocks on the mac... fast, won't crash and I upgraded 2 weeks ago.

VeriSexy 08-24-2009 11:34 PM

No problems here
