what's the most mileage you've had on a vehicle?

or seen on any vehicle?

some dude on a radio call-in show is saying he's driving a shitbox from 1998 with 770,000 miles on it and he's driving it until it hits a million

most i've seen is 200,000 plus, most i've had is 120,000

I don't remember the most.
I remember the least.
It was 42 miles.
An old man ran a stop sign and totaled
the new car I had picked up that day.

beemk 08-23-2009 03:37 PM

i have a ford e450 with 270k on it, any diesel should last 200k easily.

Machete_ 08-23-2009 03:40 PM

Drew my Mercedes 190E 2,3 till it had 600k+ KM (370k miles). I put more than half of it there myself.

One of the Landcruisers tiped over at 500k KM (310k) this winter.

I usually buy 3 year old cars (write-off) and run till they start costing money. It's the cheapest way to have a car here in Denmark, with our 180% import tax on cars

Brad Mitchell 08-23-2009 04:01 PM

Lol my first car, a 1993 Ford Escort saw about 125000 miles before I was done with it. :)

I have 230,000km on my 2000 ford taurus, the engine still runs fine however the other components are starting to go, body, springs etc, but I still think I can get a couple more years out of it!

At a toyota dealership, they have a minivan that had reached over 700,000 km on it and they were displaying it for funnsies!

quiet 08-23-2009 04:11 PM

my first car, a 70 something chevette i bought when i was 16, had 200,000 miles on it, was 320 bucks. after that, nothing more than 30K or so.

DateDoc 08-23-2009 04:13 PM

Back in the late 80s I had a volvo I put 210k on

IllTestYourGirls 08-23-2009 04:33 PM

My work truck has about 170k.

Vendzilla 08-23-2009 04:42 PM

I had a 87 jeep cheroke I bought with 90k on it, when I traded it for a motorcycle, it had 287k on it, never even took the head off

Porn Grounds 08-23-2009 04:50 PM

I had 273k on a 87 s10 blazer then it blew up haha

Phallus Fondue 08-23-2009 04:51 PM

we have a bit over 500k miles on our 67 ford pickup. it was bought new by my wifes grandfather and we bought it from him a few years ago. that truck has been all over the us and canada. it also spent most of its time pulling a 5th wheel trailer. engine is still original but the transmission was changed to give it better towing abilities.

I bought a new 89 Jeep Cherokee and put 240K on it with almost no repairs and it never left me stranded. Sold it and got a new 99 Jeep Cherokee and have 195k on it so far with no problems other than general wear.

Next car I get will be another Jeep Cherokee :thumbsup

Sosa 08-23-2009 05:24 PM

120k on a car I still drive from time to time. Going to drive it until it dies.

ToplistBlog_Com 08-23-2009 06:05 PM

Put 140k on a Geo Metro.

Spunky 08-23-2009 06:11 PM

I get rid of them when they hit 100,000

CYF 08-23-2009 06:37 PM

I had a Cutlass Supreme with 250k miles on it

Gerco 08-23-2009 06:39 PM

got 280k on a dodge Rampage once. Sold it to a dealer and the guy that bought it I talked to a couple years later and it was STILL running.... Lost track of him but when I talked to him it had 315k on it...

campimp 08-23-2009 06:56 PM

my first car was 1980 honda accord with 350+K... probably would still be running if a tree hadn't ran into me

had a 93 honda prelude with around 275K miles

currently have a 2001 jeep cherokee with 195K, so american cars can compete ;)

best lesson my dad ever taught me was never to forget the oil changes.... any car can last with regular oil changes :2 cents:

AdultHardcore 08-23-2009 07:18 PM

I had a Ford F-150 I bought new and put over 300K on it before giving it to my brother.

You're likely* throwing money away. In the old days 100K was pushing it, but cars these days are much better, and I'm talking Ford, GM, Chrysler too, will often run 200K+ very reliably with basic maintenance.

* the age of the car, has an effect too, since many components tend to wear out / degrade over time regardless of the mileage ... so if you're driving 100K over an extended period of time, say 10+ years, then your method may be more ideal.

I drive an Infinity, when it hit 100k, everything started falling apart, getting rid of it and just going to drive my f-150, it has 180k on it and when I get the transmission fixed, it will be just fine for a while

VeriSexy 08-23-2009 07:59 PM

100K... but that was my dads car.. mine is just hovering around 20k

Nismo 08-23-2009 08:12 PM

most i ever put on a car was on my 1993 nissan altima...had 201k miles on it. bought it from a relative with 150k on it. it still purred like a kitten and the engine was quiet and smooth with no problems when i sold it for $1500.

the Shemp 08-23-2009 08:49 PM

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 08-23-2009 08:52 PM

BSleazy 08-23-2009 09:07 PM

My 2000 olds intrigue has about 160,000 miles with no problems ever.

NY Jester 08-23-2009 11:15 PM

180K on a 1994 Plymouth Voyager and the Water Pump went..

Mr Pheer 08-24-2009 01:30 AM

hmm... I dont know what the most is, but right now on a few of my vehicles:

my truck.. bought it new 4 years ago, has 34k miles right now
my jeep wrangler, its 18 years old, only has 48k miles on it

one of my bikes, 2 years old, 6400 miles
another of my bikes, 7 years old, 44k miles
another bike, 10 years old, 22k miles

Ross 08-24-2009 05:47 AM

Most miles I ever put on a car is 25k miles. My very first car when I turned 18. Had it 3 years and then bought myself an awesome car when working online, put about 10k miles on that then sold it. My last car had it 15 months, BMW Z4 and put 6000 miles on it. The guy I sold it to couldnt believe the deal he got on my car.

red-xxx 08-24-2009 11:41 AM

My boyfriend had just under 450,000 miles from his Volvo 240 - then it was written off by a BIG Volvo truck! He swears by 240 Volvos...bless! :upsidedow

Choopa Phil 08-24-2009 11:46 AM

220k on my infiniti I30, was my fathers, bought it from him in 02' with 80k on it, was sprayed with 150 shot of nitrous for the remainder of its life, and has one of the fastest i30/maxima passes ever recorded by a stock block/trans car. This thing was a freak of nature, 12.7 in a groccery getter FTW! Car was sold about a year ago to a good buddy of mine, trans blew 600 miles after i sold it to him, but its now got 255k on the ODO

baddog 08-24-2009 11:59 AM

I put over 150k on my '86 Heritage.

candyflip 08-24-2009 01:17 PM

I had an '84 Honda Accord with over 350,000 miles on it.

I noticed one parked out in front of my house a few weeks ago and I took a close look at it. It was just over 300k.

xenigo 08-24-2009 01:27 PM

I drive a '92 Civic with 338k on it. Still runs perfectly, although I'm putting parts back on it as they're falling off. Just the other day, the outside drivers side door handle broke (flaps around like there's nothing connected) and I haven't replaced it yet... but really, the car runs perfectly.

Barefootsies 08-24-2009 01:34 PM

I've had a few cars over 200,000 and one over 300,000.

At one time, I would get these jobs where I would have to drive an hour to work. So it was some 100+ miles per day on that alone. When I was back in college, summer between junior and senior year, I had an internship over in Detroit for Polygram.

I had to drive over there 3-5 times a week depending on what work they had for me to do. So that is basically me driving from the S.W. corner of Michigan, across the state to their Warren office. Like 300+ miles per day on that drive alone.

The drive sucks, but driving out of Detroit was the worst. Driving in, if you hit the highways at 10A. You were wide open and smooth sailing. If you hit before then, it was bumper to bumper, or speed racer madness.

Coming out of Detroit, unless it was after 7-8P, it would take me 4-5 hours to get home, and 2-2:3 to get in. So the drive out was always the worst especially at 4-6P.

However, it was a useful internship. Even for no pay. :thumbsup

Piotrek 08-24-2009 01:35 PM

i have 230k KM on my bmw 98 year. Bought it with 130k KM 5 years ago.

You, sir... are crazy.

buyandsell 08-24-2009 01:43 PM

my subaru wagon has 166,000 miles and still going strong

OMG Jim 08-24-2009 03:07 PM

I love buying the 5+ year old cars for under $5K with about 100,000 miles on them. My first car I bought after college was the original 1977 Toyota Celica 6 cylinder with just over 100K miles. This car was put on the market to compete with the hugely successful Datsun 240Z.

I would have never believed it but I drove that car until it hit 326,000 and sold it for $50 and it was still running.:thumbsup

Currently, like a few others here, I've been driving a my 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I bought seven years ago with about 100K miles on it and the odometer just turned 268,000.:upsidedow

I almost went for the Cash for Clunkers deal but this Jeep has never had any engine or transmission work done since I bought it and it still runs strong and smooth... not bad for a $4800 vehicle.

sailfish 08-24-2009 04:15 PM

140,000 98 Dodge Ram Diesel and counting

fuzebox 08-24-2009 04:25 PM

I remember a story recently about a woman who had an early 90s Toyota Corolla with 99x,000 kilometers on it... A toyota dealership offered her a brand new Corolla in exchange for it, rolled it up to 999,999 and display it in the dealership.

TidalWave 08-24-2009 04:46 PM

The highest miles I have ever hit was 32K

GTS Mark 08-24-2009 05:50 PM

I used to have an old 1980's 4 door VW rabbit that i used to use for delivering pizza in high school. Thing ran like a champ and other than a couple of clutches i blew up learning on it, it never died!

Must have had way over 200,000 kms when i got my hands on it.

JFK 08-24-2009 08:18 PM

I had a 95 full size Chevy Van 20 from new. Had about 450K kms on it thats, about 282k miles. Drove it as a winter beater up to about 3 years ago, when it became unreliable. It was mostly highway miles, with regular oil changes. Been all over the states and Canada with it, loved it had a real nice ride:thumbsup

Elli 08-24-2009 09:19 PM

The car my parents had when I was born was a '73 Toyota Corolla liftback, and that thing "rolled over" twice at least before they sold it for parts.

rowan 08-24-2009 09:29 PM

My last car had something like 280,000km (about 175,000 miles) on the odo. It was losing coolant and the climate control blend door was broken so it wouldn't heat (a cheap part, but $500+ in labour to remove the dash and get to it). I decided to trade it in rather than fix the blend door and possible head gasket (?) problems...

mountainmiester 06-10-2011 01:24 PM

1989 Jeep Cherokee - 150k and was still running strong when i wholesaled it off. The least? 16,000 on my 1985 Porsche, stolen from my driveway and never seen again.
