NickB. 08-24-2009 03:12 AM

hard for him to get close to bringing another movie out that reaches that level

xenigo 08-24-2009 03:13 AM

Went and saw it today as well. The excessive use of violence was creepy IMO.

CunningStunt 08-24-2009 03:15 AM

So basically, it is still worth going to see, it has dialogue, great cinematography, the direction is excellent, but the plot is weak?

I'd go and see Tarantino directing a wall being painted rather than the mass market shit hollywood dishes up.

I expect nothing less from Tarantino.

You speak of his work as if it's not mass market shit hollywood dished up. It's not some sort of indi flick, Stunt.

Moses G 08-24-2009 03:32 AM

Its a Tarantino... either you love it or hate it

Actually, you're right these days, his movies have gone progressively worse.

Yeah... Kill Bill was pretty bad, IMO. I was just talking about this earlier today... I don't even know what the plot of Kill Bill was. I think when you get to his level, and money & success is no longer a driving factor for you... because you already have all the money you could possibly spend, and all the success you could possibly achieve... it's difficult to find something to be inspired by. I understand why his movies might be lacking at this point in his career.

Well if you went in expecting to see another Pulp Fiction you set yourself up for disappointment before the movie even started.

:2 cents:

John-ACWM 08-24-2009 07:11 AM

So it's unique and must be good :winkwink:

What the fuck are you talking about?

Kill Bill was a much more clear plot line than Pulp Fiction, and they fucking spoon fed it to you and you still didn't get it?

Sheeesh. I've heard this a few times since basterds came out - I thought Kill Bill was awesome.

No shit eh? Kill Bill is about as clear a plot for a movie as you can get. She is seeking revenge for what they all did to her by killing them all 1 by 1. Ending with Bill.

Looking forward to seeing Basterds this week.

Jman 08-24-2009 07:55 AM

More a statement then a review and coming from you Jay a guy with great writting skillz it is a bit dissapointing.

Martin 08-24-2009 07:55 AM

Pulp Fiction is even over rated. IMHO.

bronco67 08-24-2009 08:14 AM

Some of you are making the mistake that thinking a movie has to have some kind of clear plot to be good.

Most people love Full Metal Jacket and consider it to be a great movie. Does it have a plot? No. It's still about something, even with no plot whatsoever.

Really? Sure you have seen them?

CIVMatt 08-24-2009 08:24 AM

No shit, I find it funny when people are shocked by Tarantinos use of language and visuals of violence.

It's pretty much the exact film of his style and I expected nothing more or less from it.

Meeper 08-24-2009 08:38 AM

This movie was a little more raw than his other films in terms of violence IMO, which I didn't mind at all.

I thought the plot was pretty easy to understand. Hell, it was even the title. Kill Bill.

My Resevoir Dogs Review - It was no Pulp Fiction
True Romance Review - It was no Pulp Fiction
Jackie Brown - It was no Pulp Fiction

Guess I shouldn't see those either.

mikesouth 08-24-2009 09:19 AM

pulp fiction was stylized garbage that appeals to pseudo intellectual hipsters who think there is meaning in it.

anarchy 08-24-2009 09:23 AM

I think the movie was worth seeing if only for the acting of Christoph Waltz aka 'Col. Hans Landa'. It was fucking priceless.

Well said man..... you hit the nail in place there.

I agree that it was an entertaining movie but thats about it. I cant count the number of stupid people who were like, "when i saw that movie, i thought wow this is so cool" and they were always the dumb fucks. So in future I used that movie to separate the (as you put it) pseudo intellectual hipsters from normal people. :1orglaugh

Minus a couple of parts, I thought it sucked balls.

Kill Bill was a great flick. A lot of people hated on it, but it was perfect for what it was. Tarantino's interpretation of Japanese action flicks. It was heavily inspired by Japanese film. It's not like he was compromising the quality of his movies, just doing something different. Was Four Rooms anything like his other movies? Not even close, and it was still great in it's own right. He went from Kill Bill right over to Death Proof, which a lot of people said was boring and sucked, but was itself more his early style with the long dialogues and so on. I admit I liked Planet Terror more than Death Proof, but it was still good. I'm still stoked for Inglourious Basterds even though it's been getting a lot of mixed reviews. i still don't think Tarantino has put out a bad movie to date.

They may not be Pump Ficton but they were classics. From Dusk Till Dawn also hovers around classic level as well.

Scott McD 08-24-2009 01:50 PM

It got a horrible review in the newspaper i buy the other day. 2 out of 10.

D-Money 08-24-2009 02:06 PM

I agree.

I was surprised my dad loved it so much though.

Here's my review: Wait until it's on cable.

dynastoned 08-24-2009 02:51 PM

i like most of his movies just for the dialogue

haven't gotten around to checkin this one out yet. maybe ill hit up the theatre tonight.

ToplistBlog_Com 08-24-2009 05:22 PM

I thoroughly enjoyed it. But I'm a fan of most of Tarantino's stuff.

EllaBlack 08-24-2009 06:08 PM

Hmmm, as entertainment goes, it was a bit slow. The violence was cool, and some of the acting was kick-ass, but.... eh, it was so so. I would have rather watched it at home. For almost three hours, and not that riveting, I would have been more comfortable in my pj's on MY couch.

SomeCreep 08-24-2009 07:06 PM

It had it's moments, but overall, not that great.
