Hosts spam me... 4 x 1TB hotswap, unmanaged

This is what I need...

- 4 x 1TB drives in a hotswap chassis (MUST be able to replace a failed drive without powering off)
- preferably not Seagate brand, but this is not necessarily a deal breaker
- no hardware RAID required, I use software mirroring
- 4GB RAM
- low to mid level dual core CPU (grunt isn't really that important)
- 2000GB transfer per month
- FreeBSD 7.x 32 bit
- unmanaged

Post your quotes here. Thanks. :thumbsup

sandman! 08-25-2009 11:49 PM

One more bump

I would have thought more hosts would have replied, it's not like I'm after a $50 pentium 4...

LeRoy 08-26-2009 03:53 PM

I use http://colo-cation.com/

and I love them

sandman! 08-26-2009 03:58 PM

90% of servers racked probably are not hotswapable.

you would be suprised how many low end servers sell compared to higher end hardware.

Close... 250GB+ of compressed profile data, backups of other machines, and plenty of space left to grow. There will be two separate RAID1 arrays so that heavy activity on the "background processing" array will not impact realtime web serving performance.

Not a single video will be stored or served from this machine. :thumbsup :Graucho

Rowan,

If you are still looking at options, I would be happy to put together a comprehensive and aggressive quote for you. Please hit me up on email or ICQ and we can discuss. Thanks!

Talk to the people at Cyberwurx they are the BEST.

TurboAngel 08-27-2009 07:11 AM

Make sure you look at NatNet!

tranza 08-27-2009 08:20 AM

That's a bump

WiredGuy 08-27-2009 08:23 AM

Hi Rowan, you'd be surprised that not many hosts will publicly post prices. A lot will want to contact you privately, its worth it to check them out in private as well.

Yeah, me too. Lots of back and forth then a break of nearly 2 weeks without a reply from the other end, now today I get told it looks like the server may not be hot swappable. That's a fundamental requirement, no hot swap is a deal killer, thus the reason for the bump. :thumbsup

sandman! 10-15-2009 04:01 PM

well i think your problem is your looking at the cheaper unmanaged hosts and they rarely use cases that are hot swapable due to the extra cost.

How many bargain hosts buy nice cases like http://www.memorylabs.net/scch1.html

TidalWave 10-15-2009 04:57 PM

we do for anyone that wants more than 2 drives, like this:

http://www.supermicro.com/a_images/p...-300C_spec.jpg

Phil21 10-15-2009 05:18 PM

We don't do average billing (per-GB), but we do stock almost exclusively hotswap chassis (who doesn't?! blows my mind)

$249.95/mo for the following config

Quad Core Xeon W3520
6GB RAM
4x1TB SATA HDD (we're vendor agnostic, can't guarantee no seagate but likely would be Hitatchi from looking at current stock)
10Mbps/sec of bandwidth included (roughly 2000GB - more or less depending on your usage patterns)
Your choice of OS
Remote KVM and PDU available

-Phil
