Live Shows

hey there,

I was wondering what is the most cost effective way to produce high quality Live Shows; particularly cameras and cable connection information. Most of the time I am going to be using a net-book and the built in camera isn't worth a darn. I do have a Vixia HF S10 and I didn't know if I could use it as a cam.

xoxo,

Eve Laurence

your camera, a usb cable and the cam software should be enough. just not sure if your netbook is good enough to encode the video stream fast enough

Should probably invest in a better camera.

Forget buying a new webcam - if you have a Vixia HF S10 then you already have what you need. This is a High Def camcorder which will produce far better quality video (and sound don't forget) than any webcam and mic combination.
Get a decent tripod, plug the camcorder into your laptop and select the Vixia rather than the onboard webcam and away you go. There are plenty of Canon forums that can help if you have problems getting the laptop to see the Vixia.

You can also contact LiveJasmin.com live chat support if you have any specific questions about what works best with our sites.

Thank you so much!!!!!! This is the answer I was looking for. I have the best logitech they make and it sucks. Do I need a special cable?

that was my thought as well. your viewers might see a bit of choppiness, especially if you plan on running on multiple sites.

What would you recommend? Low cost strictly for streaming live shows. Thank you for taking the time. :)

Do you already have another desktop or notebook PC? Either one would be more ideal, due to the more robust CPU's and more RAM that are likely in place. Your netbook might work just fine though.

Definitely test it first by running your live feed setup, connected to the cam networks that you plan on running with, and having someone on the internet side see how smoothly your feed runs.

Upload speed should be fast also to give the customer a better real time experience

Ideally you would use a Firewire cable to connect your camera to the laptop - that will give you the fastest data transfer between the two (there are different types of connectors on different firewire cables so make sure you get the right one for your particular camera and laptop set up). Other than that the other guys are right that you need a decent internet connection upstream speed and a fast enough PC / laptop to process the feed.

will you make those live shows from a website ? have you tried webcams.com ? we have great payouts and big model department support...

Sorry for the delay, I am finishing some college courses and haven't been on the board lately.

I have three desktops and my netbook. Two of the desktops are in a box but could be cleaned and updated for strictly cam use. Thank you for the feedback.
