For you shooters

...what percentage of the models you shoot would you estimate to be druggies/alcoholics? What percentage would you estimate are just head cases?

Jon Oso 09-02-2009 03:30 PM

Just going off of the last five girls I shot, in reverse order.

Totally normal appearing, good head on her shoulders
stripper, so probably messed up, definitely a pothead
first timer, showed up, saw my booze, asked for some and looked sad when i said no
massive pothead but business minded
nymphomaniac. i think the only reason she was doing it was just to be watched.

Shooters?

I did shoots with around 150-200 models between the years 1998 to 2003, I'd say about 25-30% had some sort of alcohol or substance abuse problem.

Head case thing? I'd have to go with over half, probably close to 70-80%.

Place an ad, do a model recruitment drive locally, and you won't believe the headcases that crawl out the woodwork.

In my 13 yrs of shooting ( 1000's of scenes ) ..these 5 sentences would probably make up 95% of the models I have shot ....But that said I have shot primarily brand new models ..ones who had responded to ads and that I had recruited .. I make a point of not shooting "obviously" wacked out cunts .. but .. they do rear their ugly head from time to time .... If the job is sold properly to ANYONE who actually responds to an ad you can get a decent scene or more out of them.

Ouch, really that bad where you're shooting? With 200+ models i've dealt with over the time i'd say 1-2% druggies/alcoholics, maybe 10-20% who've mental problems, but again not more than 2-3% with SERIOUS mental problems ...

But we're not shooting any hardcore stuff, maybe another group of models :D

Well...I have never shot any models...but as a young soldier I had rather extensive experience with strippers...and all of the strippers I knew were into substance abuse and all of the rest...with the exception of one...were head cases. The one exception...became my first wife and the marriage lasted until I returned from my first deployment...while married to her...only to learn of her activities while I was deployed.

I am surprised that...in your experience...only 25-30% had a substance abuse problem and a little surprised about the 70-80% headcases. My guess would have been about 80% substance abuse and 99% headcases.

Anymore input?

Manowar 09-03-2009 03:33 PM

i'd say in amateur shoots its not so many but if you get to the huge industry hubs where there is a lifestyle attached and the percentages go up

I thank them when they show up sober.

Where I'm at, 90% are drug addicts. 9% are total head cases. 1% is just in a tight spot and needs the cash.

Too be fair and truthful to the discussion I must point out that I only report on what was visible to me. I'm sure many more of the girls did have some sort of abuse thing going on whether from booze, drugs, or the kind from an abusive boyfriend. Some just hid it better than others, and many of those girls only got one or two photo sessions out of me so I didn't have a lot of time with them to sense any trouble.

Very few strippers replied to our ads. The ones that did all said they were former strippers not actively dancing who had had one or more children. Seems the active strippers in Winnipeg make so much money it isn't worth their time to answer modelling ads even for nude/adult content shoots.

But on second thought you're closer to being right about the headcase % than I am. Out of say 1500 girls processed over the phone, maybe 600 of those physically interviewed, out of those roughly 150 for test shoots, you'd end up with MAYBE 20-30 girls worth working with (combo of right attitude, right looks, few to zero bad vibes).

Out of those about half will crap out on you in some way over time. No-shows, quibbling about pennies, showing up all fucked up, or whatever.

It's that 1-5% (at the most) that keeps you going. At least that's how I found it.

I do miss those days for certain reasons, but definitely don't miss the headaches and the headcases.
