SEO - different IP less importnat now?
It looks like interlinking sites on the same C-class and even the exact same IP is more helpful now in the Google SERPs. Does anyone else think this might have changed a smidge?
Also, do you no follow your links to FHGs? Would it be better if FHG's were noindex? |
i would like to know to

what is the source of this observation.

From the wiki for nofollow:
# Google states that their engine takes "nofollow" literally and does not "follow" the link at all. However, experiments conducted by SEOs show conflicting results. These studies reveal that Google does follow the link, but does not index the linked-to page, unless it was in Google's index already for other reasons (such as other, non-nofollow links that point to the page).[7][8] # Yahoo! "follows it", but excludes it from their ranking calculation. # Bing respects "nofollow" as regards not counting the link in their ranking, but it is not proven whether or not Bing follows the link. # Ask.com ignores the attribute altogether. |
I don't even think multiple class C matter anymore. Google knows who you are no matter how many network you try to hide behind.

just remember... no matter how smart you think you are, Google will always be one step ahead of you :2 cents: |
lots of ip's and class c's matter if you are talking about backlinks. (see sig)
but, spreading your own sites over lots of ip's and then interlinking them to fool google, doesn't seem to work as well anymore. |
I've never seen any kind of penalty for linking between sites on the same class c, or same IP for that matter.
According to google, it's the content that counts, among all the other criteria for ranking. If it has it's own domain, or even subdomain, and the link is relevant, it should not matter whether it's the same IP. Think about blog hosts and shared hosting. They all come from the same IP(s), and each site can still rank seperately with it's own PR. |
I would say that if you create a website and you make it's own identity; then create links in on different c-class ip's from different hosts helps..
10% relevance 90% backlinks works best... Google, Yahoo and MSN used to Run SEO contests, see here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SEO_contest winning SEO contest strategy through the use of backlinking, a technique in which the required words on other people's sites were hyperlinked back to his site. :pimp if the backlinks are on different hosts and c-class ip's it is said to help .... but backlinking is the way to go... :thumbsup |
I have never seen any evidence that IPs matter even the slightest bit.

i agree with jay. there are some linkwheeling techniques that will actually give you an NP-Complete that NO search algorithm can figure out. they have ways of identifying the things that they frown on. Bottom line is..... don't abuse anything. I play in practices that are frowned upon as seasonings to organic practices. Don't over do it and you'll be ok, IMHO.

Only 2 types of people care about multiple C Class IP's.
Guys selling links and who paid for multiple IP's because they thought it was needed. Guys selling hosting with multiple IP's. |

to clarify: google has been a registrar for some time now and most likely has access to all the info even if you use domain privacy.

I have a fake ID for each state of the US, Fake passport, Fake SSN, Fake CCs ... google can't catch my cr@zy SEO scheme ..... BIG LuLz!!!
|
Just to clarify also, I'm not saying its good to interlink all your sites :) It don't matter with the IP's but thats assuming normal site building and link developing, I wouldnt link together a bunch of sites on the same range. But I wouldn't interlink a bunch of sites period. There is just better ways.
