DVD question

I want to buy a certain DVD for my kid. The site where I want to order it from says the disk will only play on Region 1 machines. I've looked on the bottom of my player and found a symbol of a globe with a big number one on it. Does this mean mine is a Region 1 player?

Yes, America and Canada are Region 1.
