While mobile PORN shows potential, mainstream mobile ecommerce is struggling
Mobile porn and mobile video are looking good and shows a lot of promise. Mobile e-commerce is another story. Here's a great article on why that is...
http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives...struggling.php However, not all mobile-dependent markets are doing well. Mobile e-commerce, for example, is struggling. Despite the massive numbers of mobile users, those using their phones to make purchases are still few and far between...at least here in the U.S. According to new data from eMarketer, more than 70 million U.S. mobile phone users will access the internet from their devices this year, but the m-commerce market remains immature. In an April 2009 survey by RIS News, privacy and security concerns are still at the forefront of both shoppers' and retailers' minds. This had led companies to drag their feet when it comes to introducing their mobile commerce plans. Says Jeffrey Grau, eMarketer senior analyst, "most retailers are either standing on the sidelines or in the midst of planning their mobile commerce strategy." |
Fuck mainstream, they are too stuck up.

Keep in mind they are reffering to the US market. Mobile is still doing great here in europe - music, tickets and even parking spots. People spend a lot of money on getting their services pluged in podcasts of popular radioshows. People pay lots of money for that, because it REALLY works. People buy stuff, order tickets or play online while.
People just need to understand how it works and how people use it. One of the things that I see as the biggest holdup for US users, is the inability to use the phone directly as micropayment. |
Good read. :thumbsup
