Very proud of my dad :) - Part 2

Well -- my dad just phoned me, and he has finished the Appalachian Trial :)

He has walked 2,175 miles (3,500 km) since starting on March 27th, and called me from the summit of Mount Katahdin in Maine. As a bonus, it is his birthday today -- he is 65!!!

Looking forward to seeing him on Friday. The worst part of the journey is still ahead of him; The Greyhound from Bangor, Maine to Toronto :helpme

Here is a map of the Appalachian Trial;

Congrats to your Dad. I did all of Md. and parts of Va. when I was a kid. I didn't get as far as your Dad, but I'm sure your father was nowhere near as stoned as I was.

Sosa 09-08-2009 12:08 PM

Congrats to your dad, that is quite a feat!

SCOOTER 09-08-2009 12:31 PM

Twig 09-08-2009 12:33 PM

What does a hike like this consist of? Walking the base of the mountain range or the tops or what?

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 09-08-2009 12:37 PM

Are you sure he wasn't down in Argentina banging a mistress? :winkwink:

Congratz to your Dad on his accomplishment! :thumbsup

Mostly it was going over mountains, but some are circumnavigated.
