Possibly, but you would have better luck with your new driver with improved form :thumbsup

CunningStunt 09-08-2009 09:01 PM

I see what the problem is, you're holding the club the wrong way round, you're supposed to have your body the other way round, with your left hand at the top and right hand at the bottom :)

JA$ON 09-08-2009 09:15 PM

FYI

Keeping your right arm straight and keeping your left elbow tucked in closer to your body will do far more to get you under 100 than that club will.

Yeah, the Burner was one of my top choice. But after trying a Ping G10 for a whole game, I'm simply amazed by these woods! :thumbsup:thumbsup

jerryb 09-09-2009 03:59 AM

I'm 72yo and use Jack Hamm's Hammer. I shoot a solid 82 average on most courses. Shot a 37 on 9 holes yesterday. 2 bogies, 1 bird, rest pars. Life is great when you are over 70 yo. My drives average 205 and I am known by all the club members as "fairway Jerry". I rarely miss the short grass. :thumbsup

Cyber Fucker 09-09-2009 04:25 AM

i hate golf!

Zayne E. 09-09-2009 05:06 AM

Screw the new driver...

If you want to break 100 learn to chip and putt...that's where you will make up the most strokes. You only use a driver 14 - 15 times a round (less if you're smart!) but the game of golf is set up for 36 putts. And if your driving sucks you likely chip a lot. Learn to be more accurate in short distances (under a PW < 100 yards) and watch your stroke count melt below the coveted 100 mark :thumbsup

Dude, my chips are what I do better. Putt is weird.... some days it goes very well, some days it's impossible do get something good.

Thanks all for your kind comments & tips!

Always hit the practice green before a round -- more so than the driving range. The practice green is usually a close representation of what is on the course. And when you putt always just try and lag the ball within a 3' circle of the cup. If you get it there consider the putt "made" and pat yourself on the back. Even the pros misread greens and fail to hole every putt. It's all about speed...far more than accuracy, trust me.

As for that pic of you driving...sad LOL
You're laying the club back behind you on the takeaway...you can tell by your top position. The takeaway is key to the success of your swing. Swing it smooth and wide! And never swing the club from the top...your first move towards the ball should be your back elbow (you a lefty???) dropping in towards your ribcage. After that it's just timing to get your hands caught up with the club :)

Also, check your alignment -- you're aiming a bit left of the ideal line in that pic...I would bet you sliced that shot into the woods on the left.

FYI -- I play with a $150 "Knight" set from Wal-mart and can break 100. About 10 years ago I had a set of Snake Eyes custom made for me -- spent over $1200 on the fuckers. I Have never played a full round with them...couldn't hit them worth a shit...

Lace 09-09-2009 11:12 AM

Don't spend your money on a club, get lessons instead...-2 cents-

Verbal 09-09-2009 11:12 AM

I'm usually too drunk to remember my score, but here's a bump

Basic_man 09-09-2009 11:13 AM

pornguy 09-09-2009 11:17 AM

feet Hips and shoulders are all in the wrong positions.

SplitPalms 09-09-2009 11:57 AM

If you want to break 100, leave the driver at home.

I started breaking 100 consistently when I bought hybrids to replace my 3, 4, and 5 irons and stopped using my driver. A year or so later I'm down in the lower 80s.

As Jerryb said, he drives the ball 205 and shoots in the 70s. Someone your size and age probably hits your 4 iron 205.

On a 350 yard hole what good does it do you to hit a driver 275? It's easier if you hit it out 200 and then knock a 7 iron onto the green.

Be the ball Danny.

To be honest, I'm doing "good" with my current driver. I do hit 250yd average, about 60% of the shots in the fairway. But after trying a Ping G10, you never want to go back to your old driver! :thumbsup:thumbsup

But thanks for the tips. I agree, golf isn't just about hitting a ball, it's about strategy too.

Do you think it matters what fancy pants driver Tiger uses? Hell no. Improve your game, not your equipment!
