Football: Who's going to win it this year?

Season opener tonight, an I haven't seen much hoopla about it. As always I expect my Giants to be in the hunt, but Atlanta was very impressing last year getting to the playoff's with a rookie QB. I hope to see them somewhere in the hunt as well.

Who's your pick?

Let the smack talking begin

PornMD 09-10-2009 02:14 PM

I'm hoping LT is feeling better this year - if he is then the Chargers will be definitely a team to contend with.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if the Vick pickup puts the Eagles in a good position. I was skeptical of it until they mentioned the possibility of him playing other positions, and the guy had been racking up a lot of rushing yards as QB even though he was known to be a rushing QB and was strategized against. Even doing some sort of double QB lineup or the kind of funky lateral-pass plays that most teams do with a QB and RB or WR would be interesting.

The two teams you mentioned will certainly be in the thick of things too and naturally the Patriots and Colts can't be ignored. All I can say is I hope Favre's Vikings don't do well...and I have typically LIKED the Vikings, but after that man's antics over the past couple years, he deserves to fall flat on his face.

That'd be nice.

Honestly, while I'm a San Diegan and thus have to root for the Chargers over the Raiders, I don't really dislike the Raiders anymore...I wouldn't mind seeing them do well. I think they've had enough heartbreak starting with the shellacking by their former coach in the Super Bowl. I'd rather see the Raiders do well than the Broncos honestly as far as our division is concerned, but hopefully this is the Chargers' year to at least make it back to the Super Bowl if not win it. All the talent they've had for so long now, it'd be a crime to see it all go without a SB trip to show for it.

Steelers in a rare repeat. They have 19 of 22 starters back and last year's #1 defense. :thumbsup

Opps sorry you were talking about rugby with pads.

VeriSexy 09-11-2009 01:10 AM

The Pats will take it

D-Money 09-11-2009 01:11 AM

I've got to believe New England will win it all. Tom Brady was watching all of last year, dying to play, watching the 2nd stringer look like an allstar with HIS team. He's got to be fired up to win it.

Too bad it won't be my Browns.... :(

Steve OSS 09-11-2009 10:47 AM

Giants...Defense wins championships and we got the best in the league. If the O takes care of business and the WR core steps up Giants will win without a doubt.

The raiders will be the worst team in the nfl this year, and for years to come, until ole ale takes a dirt nap.

The winless Lions are offended. They win no games last season and the Raiders will be the worst this season and for years to come? Whatcha smokin'?

I don't consider the lions a professional sports franchise. :)

I want to believe they will, but I don't think they won't. There is NO question about Brady's skills, or need to play. That being said. They lost a considerable amount of their core hard nose leaders on defense this year. :2 cents: and as we know defense wins championships.

Yeah they have replaced them with stronger younger guys, but the experience, and leadership lost imho will be the deciding factor for them.

As much as on paper they would seem to be able to do it again this year, I have a feeling they're going to be like the Yankees have been in baseball since 2001 (only 2 WS appearances, no wins) for the next few years at least regardless of how they do in the regular season. Just a hunch - I think when they had that undefeated season and lost in the Super Bowl, that set this off and it'll haunt them for a while.

That'd be slick especially if Vick has a good year doing whatever they have him do since Tomlinson and Vick are forever linked by their pre-pro-career trade.

Don't tell anyone, but I'm working a deal with Bob Kraft to move the Patriots to Los Angeles and turn them into the Vipers, just like I do in Madden every year!:thumbsup

They burst Spurs bubble this morning... 1-3 at White Hart Lane.

I'm going for Chelsea in the EPL and Champions League, and England in the World Cup.
