Def Poetry Jam is very cool. Russell has a winner. I am personally tired of Poetry but when it was a new movement here in NY in the early 90's with Nuyorican Poets Cafe and The Brooklyn Moon cafe I was very into it.

Possibly only for the hot vegetarian chicks that were at every session but I was still into it nonetheless

I remember that...one of the very reasons NY was my fav. city to visit in the 90's..everyone was wearing airbrush shirts and xclan medallions

I liked Big Rube and Badu's performances...and some funny ass white guy from Brooklyn..good show,almost made me want to read

not exactly lyrical rap but entertaining none the less. lemme know what you guys think so i can give 'em some feedback.

I think I had like 4 editions of this "event" starring Russel Simmons.. Very good stuff :)
