Some form of 3D is definitely coming. Even Sony has recently introduced a 3D Vega television.

I guess the recording and viewing technologies have to be ironed out and decided upon, and then the next generation of porn (and entertainment in general) will evolve at lightning speed.

Well, that aside, 3D is indeed an obvious natural for porn.

However, judging from the appearance of porn cameraman Matt Morningwood's shooting rig,
that huge interocular (the distance between the center of the two lenses) will NOT make for good close-ups. It WILL create eye-gouging headache-inducing ones, though.

But since Matt was using non-genlockable Panasonic P2-card cameras, he probably can't use a Lanc device to even get the synch close.

On the other hand, maybe out of synch horizontal movement (which will create false depth cues) isn't a concern here. Maybe it's just "Z-axis motion" that matters in 3D porn.

Sorry, but it just kills me when people think that all they have to do is put two cameras side-by-side to shoot 3D movies.

True, but I think the major electronic companies will design 3D camcorders for regular folks soon enough. The playback standard must be ironed out first - kinda like VHS vs BETA.

That's why I am amazed the adult industry isn't leading the way, as it's done for similar technology decisions in the past.

This "3 to 5 minute" statement strengthens the OBVIOUS conclusion that tube sites are a blatent cancer on the industry.

It doesn't make any sense as a reason why 3D porn will not take off however. Just because a 3D video may exceed 3 to 5 minutes in its entirety, does not mean the surfer is forced to watch the whole movie. The vast majority of non 3D porn scenes already exceed 3 to 5 minutes, so I don't follow the logic, but I do maintain a deep hatred towards tubes.

I'm not actually and here's why. While I am still relatively new in this industry, the adult industry used to be notorious for paving the way through technology. I think porn can claim some ownership for the huge computer/internet boom in the 90s just as it did for VSH and later on DVD. But it seems as if the industry has become stagnant in innovation and adoption. It took a while before I started to see Web 2.0 functions on sites and still many do not have that user interaction.

What I have always wondered is why the adult industry has not created something similar to iTunes for a one stop distribution place instead, relying on membership sites for revenue. There is so much technology out there, like Adobe Air to create a complete marketing solution that users could download complete with ad that would not require the need for all the affiliates. Memberships and VOD can be included as well and there is no need to host a massive website. Oh yeah, it includes DRM rights as well that determines what the user can do with the content or when the membership ends, so does access to the content. Its all contained in a simple app independent of browsers or OS.

But a iTunes like app would enable users to buy their favorite scenes or compilations where the user gets what they want, not what a company determines they get for a membership price. The recording industry failed to adapt and it hurt them in the end. I can see adult headed down the same road. Not to mention producers would get more pub by being centrally located than they would relying off search engine hits.

As more and more mainstream companies put their media out there for free consumption, the mentality will continue to grow of a "free" market. As many have stated, the membership biz model is not as viable as it once was.

But I don't see 3D porn being that big except for those that are looking for an experience/simulation. 3D mainstream will not be the hit they think because movie watching is based on visually watching a story being told. Where 3D will boom in mainstream is with vacation simulations or sporting events where the viewer needs to feel like they are there and a part of the overall experience. I just dont see porn being something that the viewer feels like they have to be in the room to experience the sex, especially something they cannot touch or physically feel in either scenario.

Do not understand the technology, but as being around porn business over 11 years I could see the changes.

I started with Paul as magazine photographer and then came internet and a lot of magazine photographers (sorry :Oh crap the older guys) would not believe in it. Now the main think is the internet.

Then came also mobile phones, and we would thought no guy will look and jerk off to the small mobile phone, but it did happened.

So what I think is that as the young boys are getting old enough for porn they may want to see it the way they like it.

Will we watch TV with special glasses on? Who knows what will be in couple years time.
