Traffic ticket nightmare!

I got a traffic violation a couple months back and it was never put on the city website and it wasn't recorded the the system so I can take care of it in person. I figured the violation was dropped since i was clearly not guilty and the officer was just fucking with me.

I got a letter today saying I have a failure to appear and I need to pay $800 fucking dollars bail and my license may be suspended. What do i do? I live in Los Angeles

You show up in court ASAP. You signed saying you would appear, the excuse of "I figured the violation was dropped since i was clearly not guilty and the officer was just fucking with me" will not fly.

Show up ASAP and plead not guilty if you want, but you need to go in tomorrow. The longer you delay, the more hassle it will be.

I can't afford the bail and I need my license for work. I can't get to the court with my license on hold

have a friend drive you, use a taxi, risk it and drive to court, try public transportation.

then of course never ignore any ticket that you get, especially if they hand it to you and you signed it.

Tell the judge you can't afford it and he will probably reduce it to the amount of the ticket fine. That way if you don't show up again they won't care and will just forfeit the bond.

Making excuses as to why you can't is only going to make the problem worse. YOU MUST APPEAR ASAP.

No ifs, ands or buts.

I am trying to be nice, but you are not getting it. Fuck the online system, that is your problem, not theirs.

Only a dumb ass would assume that the ticket was dropped because they could not find it online. You are not a dumb ass are you? I did not think so.

By the way, NO WHERE ON YOUR CITATION DOES IT SAY: IF IT IS NOT ONLINE, FORGET ABOUT IT.

Okay? Clear enough for you? That excuse will get your bail reduced but only if you attend to it immediately. Waiting will only fuck you.

and yes, you did ignore it. You said you would APPEAR by the date and time stated on the citation. You did not. You violated your O.R.

OK I called, I appeared, I waited in line in person at the court house I was told the ticket doesn't exist and was dropped and not anywhere in the system

every paper ticket i ever got had a date to appear on the ticket. it was not that long ago that the thought of having anything online for the police was a sci-fi dream. they have not changed that much in the past decade or so. the only thing that online access does is add convience for people, that is it.

my wife got hit with a traffic cam. we got a notice in the mail and it also said to check some website for photos and information. the numbers and stuff they gave us would not pull anything up at all. i trusted that a ticket did exist and i sent my wife down to the court house's traffic clerk. sure enough after a few minutes she had the ticket info and everything needed to know to attend court, pay the fine, get traffic school, and more.
however it did never appear at that website.
