So I joined a few dating sites.... and I'm thinking what kind of scammy shit is this?

I've never really understood the hoopla over dating programs and sites, so I decided to join a few myself late last nite after work and see what the end user goes through. Registration is fairly easy and straightforward, homer simpson or some dumbass like shimmy can figure it out... then here's what happened

1. Once confirmed (i'm not shitting you) inside of about 5 minutes I start getting yahoo messenger bot spam. Ymail somehow integrated messenger into the inbox recently I guess. And it kept continuing on and on until I set it to ignore.

2. I create a profile and damn near instantly get 5 lengthy canned messages from 'hotties' that want to meet me (upgrade to paid membership to view pics too hahaha nice) only problem here is I recognize the girls because i bought the same damn content many years back. they could have at least grained and darkened the pics to make them look legit. what a fucking ripoff

3. It gets even better. I use the zip code search feature to search for girls in a 10 mile radius of me, which shouldn't be so hard as there is a big college down the street, and about 75% of the search results share the same text in the profile about how they're flight attendants and shit and travel everywhere yadayada. I used that same promo sales pitch back when I was pushing pussycash programs a few years ago when they actually converted worth a shit.

How much is the surfer gonna take before he realizes he's being fleeced with fake profiles, pics, and stories? No guy in their right might is going to believe all these "i'm interested in you saw your profile" type of emails when they are sent out within a few minutes/hours of you joining. I know people talk a lot of shit about AFF but I at least know the shit works in the real world because my old roomate this jamaican chick used it to meet crazy dudes all the time. I just have to say I'm skeptical about promoting any of them at this point for the lack of realism. Might go back to promoting hotlocalescorts because they paid well years ago and were more real. Just don't want to back something I don't really believe in, or something I wouldn't join myself ya know?

donnylong 09-15-2009 10:48 AM

so true and these cock suckers are running people off. Promote http://www.swingerswatching.com through http://www.getrichcash.com and you will see people sign up and stay. EVERYONE ON THERE IS REAL!

BSleazy 09-15-2009 10:48 AM

Pretty much the same thing when I signed up to a couple of them a while back.

jamrek10 09-15-2009 10:52 AM

If it works, it works :thumbsup

Never promoted a dating site before. But every ad I see is a pornstar or nude model that I've seen before it seems.

surfers know.

would be interesting to see sales stats the last few years. (cue dating affiliate rep: "sales are off the charts!")

google any site name and most of the results are consumer complaints.

guess that's why they are reduced to hiring outsourcers to post fake stats as fake nicks.

sexdatesj 09-15-2009 10:58 AM

Unlike many dating sites, our site is real. real girls, real chat, real profiles. I am sure
we have fake ones that someone made, but not by us.

A few sponsors that post here have fake sites and are nothing more then whitelabels
of another bigger sponsor.

Our backend is 100% custom and real..

My 2 cents of course!

ffmihai 09-15-2009 10:59 AM

porn surfers just signup and pay for this kind of stuff because they are stupid and blind.
as a webmaster, you cant lower yourself to the knowledges of a regular user.

96ukssob 09-15-2009 11:01 AM

these days, whatever makes a dollar people will push. were moving more into this phase of almost tricking people to make a buck. One dating site does it, 100 more are to follow.

on my site, i got two emails from surfers that joined a dating site under my affiliate link and complained about how shitty the site is and how I should not promote them

see i have a problem with this kind of thinking. joe public is not as much of a dumbass as you think and just because we are "webmasters" (whatever the fuck that is) does not mean we rule the fucking internet like the wizard of oz pulling levels and pushing buttons behind a curtain. if you fuck the surfer, trick the surfer, or promise shit and don't deliver then it shines bad on you and your site. maybe you don't give a shit but i do since i'm putting a lot of my time and effort into my little ant sized projects.

the whole reason i joined up is i was discussing my last few shoots with the owner of this vw tuner shop in tampa who is gonna let me film there and he said he joined a dating site, got billed the $50 or whatever and he RANTED for like a good fucking 1/2hr about how ripped off he was etc etc. and this is your joe public, blue collar, wants to fuck chicks, barely can use ebay computer type of user. word spreads FAST and this shop is in the fucking cuban hood (drew park tampa represent!) so when these niggas is talkin shit about about porn/dating/sex sites i listen, it doesn't get any more grassroots than hearing shit from the mouths of nonwebmasters.

Adult dating sites are just fantasy sites like paysites... You are not selling the surfer a date, you are selling him the fantasy that he can get laid.

Agreed. It's an impulse buy with the hope that the user forgets to cancel month after month. Someone actually serious about dating will sign-up and spend money on a program they know can generate real dates (friend recommendation, etc). Or they'll spend $0 and sign-up to plentyoffish like everyone else.

shimmy2 09-15-2009 01:22 PM

oh so thats what i've been doing wrong. for a minute there i thought dating sites were supposed to be real, and cam sites were for the virtual fantasy fullfillment. now i know, and knowing is half the battle. :)

Davidstinator 09-15-2009 01:23 PM

Just thinking of the stats posted by the weird Emo boy/girl "Dude" who claimed to make a 1/4 mil in August... in the stats he published, ratio was about 100-1 men to women signing up through the AFF program he was pimping...

Anyway, I've tried AFF - and yes it is simple & easy for women to find men, or for couples to find a third dude... but I had very limited success trying to get laid through it. I'm sure if i worked it harder, I could have gotten laid through it, but I found it much easier to get dates via: POF, or Match in the past.

I also fell victim to Ashleymadison - I'm sure some of the profiles are real, but after the free trial, realized that there didn't appear to be many real (attractive) women in my area who were looking for some strange.

Just my $.02 from being a casual user -

I'm sure the affiliates who promote the sites have a diff. opinion

OMG Jim 09-15-2009 01:26 PM

My business professor in college stated this about sales...

"There is sucker born every second... and it's your job to find him!" :(

Seems like the dating site owners must have had the same professor I did :pimp

Waz up Shimmy? AlminghtyJim from the Mojo Bus :)

Which sites did you sign up to that were like that?
You signed up for several, right?
If they were all what you describe, did you get a feel that they were sharing resources, running the same software and using the same content.. like a network of fake dating sites? If so, it'd be good for us to know specifically which sites these are..
Even if not, it'd still be great to know which sites are fake..

Thanks

untrue...

Surfers who joins dating sites are coming there for reality what ever the case is.

i agree with the op for what he said above,

Aff was successful because most of the members were real and this reality made the Site become famous

haha I used yahoo personals back in 98-00 and wow did i get laid a lot from it :1orglaugh But that was back when it was free and a lot less scammy.. the internet was so much easier back then..

Nautilus 09-15-2009 05:57 PM

I also joined a few dating sites a couple of months ago and was amazed at the amount of scam going on there, have no idea how they manage to get away with it.

Why this shit still sells is also beyond me.

I think we have to make our moral decisions ourselves whether we want to participate in misleading people or not, many webmasters feel a personal responsibility to their surfers and choose not to promote sponsors that will abuse and ripoff their customers.

thanks for the thread, many never bother to check out how the signup process goes from the perspective of the surfer

nah, i figure most dating site users are lazy, lack social skills, or dont get out much. i also think dating site users are pretty much immune to most porn and have been there and done that, and they finally crave some real flesh with a pulse. such a shame they are going to be let down most of the time, then they'll end up paying $4000 to attend a david deangelo seminar, read 200 ebooks, and go thru the whole selfhelp thing full circle

yeah i signed up for 3 of them and i'm glad i did so i can see for myself how they operate. it all seems a variation of bait/switch/donkey/carrot. to be honest with you dating sites are worse than this $1000/mo feed i used to lease thru pythonvideo called "tit talk" back in the dialup days. my members would go in there to chat with these hoes and they would always striptease then tell them "NO PUSSY HERE, GOTTA GO TO THE LIVE FUCK SHOW" and it pissed my members the fuck off for many years but they were still the only feed with good audio at the time on 56k dialup so i kept them. But still every now and then you have to do more than tease. You have to satisfy them sometimes or they are gonna bounce. Same game wives play on the husband... she can tease and deny that pussy only so many times before dude goes out and finds him some replacement with considerable less difficulty

Iron Fist 09-15-2009 11:57 PM

I can't believe Raven Riley lives next door to me as well... awesome!

andrej_NDC 09-16-2009 02:43 AM

All dating sites are fake, even though some may have real members too, but all have fake profiles also. Even in this thread is one pretending to be real, but I joined it and it couldn't been more fake.

another day, another 5 new "matches" in my inbox. and y'all know good and well these country ass florida girls don't talk, type, or text anything like this:

"I just came back on this site and I want to find someone who likes to have fun. We can chat or maybe get a drink sometime. Are you down for this?"

"Hi there. Well what do you say. Let's meet? I am very genuine and know we would have a blast together. Let me know if your interested. Maybe I can send you my number and we can talk more. Gotta run. Take care."

learn to speak proper anglish (maybe geotarget the south and convert it to a slow southern drawl) and it would be more believeable thats all i'm saying. that last one got me rolling 'well what do you say' lol i get better kings english pitches from nigerian email scams

BestXXXPorn 09-16-2009 10:22 AM

I work full time for Singlesnet.com

We staff over 20 people full time just to combat scammers and spam. Every account is reviewed by hand and thousands of accounts are deleted daily. Users become flagged from a ton of various actions and their accounts are reviewed again any time that happens...

It's nasty to control and very VERY expensive... Most of the smaller sites won't even bother. A lot of sites prefer to have all the hot chick pics in their profiles even though they're fake but when it comes down to building a meaningful service. You've gotta keep that shit under control.
