Alternative To memberships, Have a look
 

Had this idea, seems the whole internet is more interested in buying just movie clips instead of memberships....

So, that being said I as thinking, everyone says adapt, try new ideas

so ... how are your affiliates billed for the clips? are they also getting percents or ... ?

everything is through ccbill, yes affiliates get 50% as always

use a system of points with an account that the user can reload.

If anyone wants to follow up on this concept... amember.com is user management software. I paid them already to create a plug-in for their user management system. Members join up for free and then are given exactly what you mentioned, a point system or as I called it "tokens".

Jim Gunn does the same thing I believe.

I chat with alot of old members and new ones, many say the one thing thats stops them for joining a site is hidden sales, reblling after they have cancelled etc.....

Many posts here talk of tubes ruining this biz, I am sure of that also, however, I felt we needed to take this idea as close to tubesas possible, not to mention the fact that with the economy people are more likely to go or a lower price. To spend one sum may scare them off, but to be able to buy 1 or2 or more clips they may go for

I remember times of going shopping and before i left saying I am only going to get what I need, then fillling my cart with tons of stuff, why? Because it was cheap

That would be how you set your site up. You just put example clips in the free area and all paid for by tokens in the premium section.

I've used amember for a couple years and they have been helpful along the way. i.e. it was taking a long time for members to sign up for free on my site because I had many members, I started a ticket with them and they fixed it (after a few emails). I would not say support is the greatest but if your persistent I have found them to get the job done. Custom programming is available and is reasonable.

why are you using aMember when CCBILL, Epoch, NATS all do member management already?

you cannot signup members for free with ccbill (don't know about the others).

IMO this is what all tubes should be doing... offer nothing unless an email and username is provided... then give them something but always push them to pay. It makes so much sense to me.

yes and make the user check his mailbox to get what he wants to have.

why would i give you 8 bucks to watch a clip you did when i can go to tube8 and find a clip just like yours for free?

think about these sentences:

Or you could say, why join debsdeepthroat when i can just go find clips for free?
Very true but people are still signing up


this is just another way to make money.

How much does that cost? One of the keys might be pricepoint. Adultwork does that, clip selling with a free membership, but the prices are lower. There is a resistance level at a certain price, so selling a packet of "credits" and then letting the user decide seems to work.

Its wasnt bad to setup, oscommerce witha few add-ons...plus osc is free makes it all that much better
