We have to threaten with a lawyer to get anything these days?
So a few weeks ago, some wild animals got into my storage garage and ruined furniture and ate/pissed/shat on boxes and other stuff laying around.
I called the rental complex and they wont cover it, as they sent me a copy of the agreement from their corporate office, but I was told it has to be covered by my renters insurance, which is why they make it mandatory to have. I call to file a claim wiht my insurance company and THEY WONT COVER IT!:mad: When I ask why, they claim that small animals are considered "rodents and/or domestic animals" HOGWASH! So I called my insurance agent and argued with him for 20 minutes about what is considered a domestic pet and what is wild... he told me Im screwed. The next day I'm in a sour mood so I write an email to him saying "I just got done meeting with my attorney and after reviewing the documents, she states that this damage will be covered by my renters insurance. I dont have your address where she can mail her documents to you, can you please provide me the street address and a fax number, she will be in touch later today." Within 20 minutes, I get an email back saying "No need, I just filed the claim for you an adjuster will be contacting you shortly. Thanks, your trusted State Farm Agent" WTF?!?!?!? I bluff with a lawyer and they move? This is ridiculous that this has to happen. I get raped monthly for insurance and when I try to make a claim, the only way is I have the threaten to sue? |
Unfortunately, yes.

Very common.
Most people in your situation simply go (ohh well we tried) and move on. Insurrence, phone, cable companies can pretty much get away with murder these days. |
You get raped for rental insurance? I think I pay $100 bucks or some shit like that A YEAR. :helpme

It's the litigious world we live in. Sucks, if you ask me.
