Have you ever outran a cop while driving a motorcycle?

I have ridden bikes all my life. When I was in college I had a GSXR all tricked out. Top speed was 175 and I drove it to the limit almost every day. Cops would try to pull me over but they never had a chance. I must have outran a dozen cops and never got caught because I would get way ahead till I was out of site and then duck behind a house or trees.

I have a few bikes now but never take them to top speed. Not even close. I live in LA now so there are police helicopters everywhere so when a cop puts his lights on I pull over without even thinking about taking off.

I would like to haul ass one of these days though just to make sure I can stil do it. But I probably will never do it because I am much older now and think about things like causing an accident where someone innocent gets hurt or killed.

Anyone want to share any stories?

Yes, in fact it was big news where I was living.

When I was younger, I seemed to like speeding a little.... so much so that I lost my license 8 times and had 7 driving without a license offenses. (Ah to be young and stupid)

Short story, Cops knew me, they looked for me, My picture and my rides where on the wall in the station. So, one night I'm taking home a friend on my Honda v45 Magna (Heres a picture of what one looks like http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.motoyard.com/images/415729_1-4.jpm&imgrefurl=http://www.motoyard.com/honda-v45-magna-vf700-415729&usg=__jhA7ukkBBYR0Ahqk9zMd6aHdlRw=&h=353&w= 580&sz=50&hl=en&start=3&um=1&tbnid=FF6ssvh3bHUt7M: &tbnh=82&tbnw=134&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dhonda%2Bv45%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafa ri%26rls%3Den%26sa%3DX%26um%3D1)

And I get stopped. Mind you, I'm actually in one state (ND) but live in another (Minn). I have a bottle of whiskey opened in my bike's saddle bags so I know I'm beyond fucked this what with all my priors etc. My friend gets off the bike and as he's walking to the cop car I take off. This is the no shit part... They chased me for over 30 minutes and in the course wrecked a squad car and a squad blazer. When I saw that happen I knew I was going down if caught.

I was able to slip into a residential area, and hid behind a garage, was able to cut across a back yard and into the parking lot of a 7-11 where I saw one of the cop blazers go by... so I got behind him, figuring thats the last place they would look. I was able to follow him to the interstate where I got off and got home.

I ran in my place (I was having a party so there where about 25 people there) and yelled the cops are after me give me some cash now! Someone handed me a fist full of twenties and another guy handed me his leather jacket and helmet (So I looked different) I I headed back out and drove 300 miles away and stayed with another friend for a week.

They ran my face in the paper etc, it made all the news... they even parked a ND squad car and detective car PLUS a Minn squad car and detective car outside my place for 72 hours waiting for me to come home.

In the end they had to drop all charges since they have 72 hours to catch you or they can't do shit. (Odd but true law in ND) At least back then.

Anyways. I traded my bike for a car while I was gone and a friend brought me home where I kept my nose clean for a few months... All the cops where really on me then, they all knew it had been me but couldn't do anything about it. Well, the night finally happened where they got me on some bullshit charge, just enough to get me in front of a judge and thought the book at me... giving me the max 10k fine and 6 months. So in the end they won, and always do.

LOL! tell me about it. I look back and wonder how I'm still alive. But, this is the first time I have even thought about all that in years. I got feeling a little nostalgic and just placed a bid on an 83 V45 for 800 bucks thats sitting about 50 miles from me. It was a great bike, and would be nice to have one sitting in my garage.

never on a streetbike. When i was a kid the cops would try and bust us every weekend for driving on the side of the road between trails. There were 3 major trail systems but to get between them you had to go on the road for a few blocks, and to get gas.

I did it once, without knowing. I lived in sweden and worked in denmark. So had a 120km ride each way every day at 5 in the morning. One sunday morning at around 5in the morning, I let the old tuned Yamaha stretch out most of the 80km Highway, because there were no cars at all - not one, but when I hit the citylimit there was a roadblock. Got pulled over and it seems it was only me they wanted to chat to.

There had been a cop at a bridge right about 5 minutes after i left the ferry. He had started the clock, and when he cought up with me at the roadblock, they had a averagespeed at over 272 kmh(about 170mph) over the 50 km stretch.

At no point had he been visible in the mirrors.

Cost me 15.000 danish kr(around 2500 dollar], and one year and a half without a licens in denmark. But since I lived in sweden, I could still drive with the swedish licens.

That was more then 10 years ago, and I have not had one single fine since. I still drive to fast, but only when there is enough space and i dont endanger anyone but myself. I have been pulled over a lot of times, but never got a ticket, because I respect the other people on the road, and dont blow past them with excess speed.

I could easily pull away from the cops, but I dont think its the right thing to do, so I dont

Same here, I have a totally clean driving record now, have not had a ticket in many many years. My wife laughs at me and calls me a grandpa driver cause I always seem to be right under the speed limit.. guess I got it all out of my system

I drive at the speedlimit when in the city, and when there any other kind of traffic on the road. I get my kicks on the racetrack and in the woods on the enduro bikes. But I do cross the speedlimit on the open roads, If I can do it, without being a threat to other people on the road.

I hate it when I see people put other peoples life in danger, by driving to fast, or not paying attention to the traffic around them.

Why would you RUN, when you have a motorcycle?
