Macbook Pro or Lenovo??

Which would you go with... the 15" macbookpro or the (pc) lenovo laptop?

LiveDose 09-21-2009 11:08 AM

Do you use a Mac now?

Lenovo has a bunch of different models so I guess that would be a factor.

Personally I have really enjoyed my new Macbook.

KickAssJesse 09-21-2009 11:12 AM

I'm bias so I would have to say mac.
I have a 17" mbp and loving it :] ... and I also work on an iMac 24"

JustDaveXxx 09-21-2009 11:14 AM

i am a Mac book fan. Made the switch 6 years ago and never considered going back. Got 2 Macs now.

Machete_ 09-21-2009 11:15 AM

Lenovo with enough ram + win7 64bit

its the best business investment you will ever make

area51 - BANNED FOR LIFE 09-21-2009 11:17 AM

I'd go with a macbook pro but Lenovo is great if you want a pc notebook

NaughtyRob 09-21-2009 11:18 AM

Macbook Pro is fucking awesome, I love mine.

asianseekerz 09-21-2009 11:27 AM

I love the keyboards on Lenovo (IBM) laptops.

bbobby86 09-21-2009 11:47 AM

abadfish 09-21-2009 12:14 PM

MBP for sure.

ToplistBlog_Com 09-21-2009 12:26 PM

What are you using it for?

Babaganoosh 09-21-2009 12:33 PM

Simpletons need Macs. The rest of us can use a real computer. Which are you?

blazin 09-21-2009 12:40 PM

I have a lenova IBM thinkpad... it's a beast of a machine BUT it's battery life sucks and the display looks like shit when next to a macbook.

I'm waiting for the new macbooks to come out... (rumoured to me next month) and then I'll pick up a new model.

beta-tester 09-21-2009 01:00 PM

mac all the way

MrPotatoBread 09-21-2009 03:24 PM

Lots of Macbook fans I guess :) I am willing to go with either one. I run a pc now but am starting to wonder if I should convert or not. :)

react 09-21-2009 06:26 PM

MBP is good except res maxes at 1440x900. Lenovo W500 brings it with 1920x1200.

Peace 09-22-2009 01:40 AM

mac book pro orp koob cam

Thurbs 09-22-2009 04:00 AM

wait a bit ... read core i7 reviews yesterday and if they go laptop, they'll probably go mac first like nahelem did :)

quadcore + hyperthreading on an MBP .. can not wait

Mickey_ 09-22-2009 04:11 AM

Neither. Vaio.

My Lenovo Thinkpad is higher res than my desktop which I have a 22" widescreen monitor.

Picture quality sucks though

Toni 09-22-2009 05:24 AM

I was thinking of buying a 17" Macbook Pro and putting windows on it because of the amazing battery life of 8h

Just because OSX does upto 8h doesn't mean Windows will :2 cents:

You are right, I have read a test and the battery in fact lasts less with windows, around 7 hours. That's still good

Sosa 09-22-2009 05:38 AM

There are still some things with OSX that I don't care for. It would be a toss up but I guess it depends what I was needing it for as there are still some windows programs I have to run and Fusion does an ok job but still not as quick as I would like.

geedub 09-22-2009 06:19 AM

why spend so much more on the same hardware? get the pc and run ubuntu

Linux belongs on a server.... not the desktop... at least for now.

jack.nasty 09-22-2009 02:21 PM

Mac Pro

Common. It's obvious!

Elli 09-22-2009 02:34 PM

I have three Lenovos at the house now and love them to bits. The best bang for the buck, and includes a three year no questions asked warranty.

Cyber Fucker 09-22-2009 02:56 PM

get a thinkpad

Helen 09-22-2009 03:26 PM

I have a macbook and I wouldn't change it for the world.

thagreek 09-22-2009 03:36 PM

macbook pro all the way, I will never use a pc again.

Chosen 09-22-2009 03:50 PM

Macbook Pro would be the good choice :)

campimp 09-22-2009 06:12 PM

made the jump into my first apple a couple months ago... got the macbook pro, and i quickly understood why so many people said that apple is the only way to go

Adraco 09-22-2009 09:34 PM

Lenovo for business

Is it for professional use or leisure?

No one out there currently can compete with the security features built into the Lenovo Thinkpads. It has an internal backup/restore system, powered by its own OS, which wil run regardless of the state of the regular OS, should anything happpen.

Wouldn't ever travel with a laptop without knowing that I can continue to work, whatever happens. If anything goes wrong, just let it do a restore and in 20 minutes you are good to go again.

I loved the old IBM Thinkpads and still run a few, Lenovo has done an ok job continuing the Thinkpad series and it is today the only professional laptop you should ever consider, perhaps together with DELL's Latitude series.

But what do I know, I just used to purchase 350-400 computers a year and ran an IT support division of 12 people?

JasonB 09-22-2009 09:43 PM

mbp for sure. you will be SO glad you switched.

You will be very happy if you do switch to Mac and if you feel the need (can't imagine why), you can run Windows too.

sandman! 09-22-2009 11:06 PM

thinkpad all the way.

MrPotatoBread 09-27-2009 02:03 PM

Wow, this is making it difficult to choose. So much great feedback for sure! Would be running a little light photoshop, ftpclient maybe dreamweaver and the basics. Are the macs able to connect to monitors easily such as pc laptops etc. I know nothing abut them but the time as come and I must purchase one or the other this week. If not mac any lenovo series recommended for what usage I've described?

TwinCities 09-27-2009 02:35 PM

MrPotatoBread,

Are you anywhere near an Apple Store? If so I would recommend an appointment with a FREE personal shopper that can answer all your questions on the spot and show you around.

Any particular model?

I looked up reviews of the latest macbook and they show you the laptop however they never talk about the software or show demonstrations of something booting or loading. Anyone have a good clip they'd like to share of a review?

MrPotatoBread 09-27-2009 09:07 PM

I ordered the MBP. With everyone here in the thread 75% were MBP so I went with that. Any programs or anything you guys recommend doing or trying out etc? I'm a first time mac guy so this should be interesting. Lol....

See my above post lol. It is a sweet computer but what's a sweet computer without programs? I bet there are a few but no video review I checked out could tell me.

pornpf69 09-27-2009 09:34 PM

if you already own a mac go for it... otherwise continue with the same OS...
