I never understood the whole killing your children thing. Just because your life sucks balls doesn't mean your kids' does too. They might be a little fucked up for a while after you kill yourself, but they'll move on and live their lives. Go out in the forest, shoot yourself in the face where you won't make a big mess, and let everyone else carry on...

It seems like recessions and economic downturns make these stories more common.

If these suicidal people heard about it less, I think the amount would decrease.
If the news would stop making a public spectacle of such horrid events, I honestly believe less horrid events would happen.
