IMPORTANT - Everyone Check your Affiliate Accounts!!!

Try to at least log in to your main affiliate accounts that generate the big majority of your revenue. I was just doing my weekly financial reports, and for some reason i couldn't log in to one of my bigger accounts with an affiliate program that i send traffic to.

When i contacted them, they checked things out for me and noticed that the password had been changed to have 1 extra character and the Pay To was switched to someone's Epass, which is odd, considering we dont get paid out on Epass at all!!!!

I know of 3 different MAJOR programs where this has happened, so I'd suggest you all check out your big sponsors ASAP!

I suggest YOU update all your passwords across the board and make sure they're different for each site ;)

ya and watch nifty stats for login failures. easy.

For those that dont think about it. Changing passwords from time to time is a good idea. it helps you stay safe and harder for someone to steal.

also consider doing passwords like this.. whatevername111 or whatevername-123 or whatevername_111 or even what&Name

those are much safer and harder to get past.

What is this? Internet-101?

Thanks toots.....I guess i must smell like "n00b" or something because i don't have over 10k posts.

You'd figured that once a thread came along with USEFUL advice or information, people would be less dick-ish.

When I create a new password I use PC Tools Passwords Utilities to generate something along these lines

qvKqS3x8KwAp4u9

then I just save it in a folder in my e mail

also at Royal Cash we have added a security feature that we call 'secret code' it is sent to our affiliates when they sign up and it is required to change the e mail, password or billing information :)

Yeah password managers are always a good idea :)

I will say though that I can't stand that PIN / Secret Code thing... I loathe, abhor, detest, and despise it... It something I didn't generate and could have originally been lost in the mail, something nobody else does so I have to create another field in my DB to track it, for one sponsor...

Seriously consider dropping that thing, it's more of a pain in the ass than it's worth...

I tell ya what, I will see if we can post a poll inside our affiliate area and get an idea of what the general view of it is. When we started doing it there was a rash of people having accounts hacked (not with our program we did this preemptively) and it has served it's purpose so far. If you want to discuss it further we can chat on ICQ 233802392 so we don't hijack the thread :)

I had to contact someone on ICQ to have them manually approve it as I never got the security code...

To their credit, I had a response in less than an hour and they got me all setup, they're a fantastic sponsor :)
