Movie style heist in Sweden this morning
Early this morning a white helicopter landed on the roof of a money depot, three men walked out and into the building, the helicopter lifted again and hovered above the building, explosions went off, the robbers came back out with several large bags after the helicopter landed again and they took off. They have not yet been found but the helicopter has been found by a small lake. Many witnesses who live nearby saw the whole thing and gave detailed descriptions of the modus operandi.
I can't believe how advanced this robbery was, it's really unbelievable. Helicopters? Bombs? Thought these things only happen in movies. http://www.thelocal.se/22234/20090923/ |
It was probably a film set.
No, it is a real robbery. And there is new development, earlier in the night a helicopter was stolen from a company and the two helicopters the police use in the area where sabotaged so that a pursuit in the air became impossible.
Cleverly done.
I wouldn't think it would be too hard to catch the thieves. How many people can fly helicopters? How many can get hold of explosives? Sounds suspiciously like a military operation to me. |
Reminds me of another robbery in Sweden some time ago ... they made bomb treats against several places causing police to be swamped in work and then proceeded with the robbery. It was a lot of confusion no one knew what was real and not.

sounds well planned:thumbsup

Respect. They won't be caught. The pilot may of been retired for 15 yrs etc Bombs you make your self. A bunch of creative guys for sure :)
Beats anything I've ever heard of before.
Yea this one was spectacular. :) They haven't caught them yet. Some sources say that ~$150 million was in the building at the time of the robbery.
wow... those guys have been watching way to many oceans movies :)
Following the story here in Sweden and wow, just wow, the Swedish police are beyond useless.
It took them 4 hours to get helicopters there because the robbers had left some bag marked with "BOMB" close to the local police helicopters. Only the fact that they managed to get in to their hangars and do that shows what kind of police we have here lol |
They for sure knew what they were doing.
Kind of a funny read actually because they really planned it. |
Even criminals have to work harder to make money these days.
A professor within the police said robbers may have gotten away with as much as $140 millions...... no official numbers out though.
Jeez, wonder what the roi is on that, lol. Nuts.
It’s a shame when people that smart decide to focus on fast cash instead of building something.
That CNN article says
"One person was taken into custody later in the day, a spokesman for the Stockholm Police told a news conference Wednesday afternoon." This is completely unrelated to the robbery, due to the excessive controls being done by the police 2 people have been arrested on suspicion of selling stolen goods. It has no connection to the robbery just the media fucking up. |
oops double post
The guys will get caught.. 99 times out of a hundred they do. No matter how careful you are, you can't erase every piece of evidence.
Has to be a shadow crew of ex military pros, like some dudes who were in war and were dirty.
how much did the steal?
Good luck to them. Wish it was me lol...

this sounds like a really big heist, lots of people involved.. which means sooner or later someone make an error and they get caught. i am guessing no Swedish people did this, they are all very law abiding people. |
I can't believe it's real...

I can hardly believe this happens in Sweden, it's the most peaceful place I've ever been.

Couldn't be more than 3 or 4 that could fly a helicopter :1orglaugh Surely people wouldn't be able to make their own explosives or steal them - they would have had to have purchased it with some sort of licence on their credit card :1orglaugh |

last one I heard about was that jewelry heist in England somewhere.. some dude in a suit walks into the place, shows a gun and walks out within 3 minutes with $50million in goods.. disappears into the city.
Unreal.. but true.. very well planned shit like this sounds like mafia, military or inside jobs. |

yeah I actually just saw the headline for that one.. looks like the ones they caught are ratting out the others..
Nobody has been arrested thus far.
Awesome story thanks for sharing :thumbsup
Very crazy plan but pulled off to perfection from the sounds of it. |
Sounds like The Italian Job!
