My new Wordpress Theme is the touch of death

So I tried to edit a theme that was highly highly customizable with much cleaner code than most themes (even without the options). I tried it before I got the sidebar and widget code cleaned up but it is still pretty clean. Anyway, it is the touch of death for the big G. www.tori-black.com. Anyone know why?

Take it in english for the rest of us.

Translation (to the best of my abilities): This theme has clean code and should yield great SE results, but any blog I apply this theme to loses traffic. Why is that?

crockett 09-23-2009 12:47 PM

what is the link to the theme?

StuartD 09-23-2009 12:56 PM

big G = Google? As in, this theme means Google will no longer list it?

crockett 09-23-2009 12:57 PM

edit, nm on the link found it.. I would think it's something with your site TBH, but you didn't really give much info as to what is going on.

Kard63 09-23-2009 01:11 PM

I apologize. If I apply this theme to an old sites it drops in the Google serps. I did it twice but thought it might just be because it was a drastic change to an old blog. Then I made this new site. After 6 days it was finally indexed in google. It was the 8th result for her name for 3 or4 days. Then I made the last post before I went to bed, I woke up and the site was completely removed from Google's index.

basically this:

Well, first of all, it lacks proper one touch cockies... Google hates that with a passion. :2 cents:

basically this:

take in mind that your new site went to sandbox which isn't caused by the theme. New sites are normally pushed to upper listings once they get firstly indexed and after few days they go down in sandbox..

If you do a search for the exact url a site will show up in the results even if it is in the sandbox. Mine does not. I was blacklisted.

CyberHustler 09-23-2009 01:56 PM

Check your robots.txt

Wordpress has fucked me that way before

CaptainWolfy 09-23-2009 02:23 PM

lol, you are funny, having a few day blog and just few posts and wanting to be on 1st spot on google, sandbox !? have you heard about it, get few inbound links ....

CaptainWolfy 09-23-2009 02:24 PM

Agent 488 09-23-2009 03:10 PM

You are correct. Thanks. I had never seen a site that was indexed not appear if you search for its exact url so I didn't bother trying site:www.tori-black.com but you are correct. It is in the index so it is only in the sandbox, no big deal.

Thats why I post here ;) Thanks guys.
