I live in the richest state in the nation!

I'm not bragging ... I am wondering where the rich people are.

We have pockets of extreme, extreme, extreme wealth, but I have no idea how we're the richest.

If we're the richest, I'd hate to see what the poorest is, because most people I know are struggling right now ... even the one's that were doing great just a few years ago.

This shit has to be flawed. Maybe I am doing something wrong...

In 2006 I would have bragged about such a report. In 2009 I think "wtf." If we're the richest then this country really is fucked...there are so many places that I would think are richer.

I've been watching The Wire HBO series from start to finish over the last couple of weeks, and I keep reminding myself to never go to Baltimore. It looks like a fucking hellhole.

Excellent show huh? Personally the best I've ever seen.

the wealth isnt in baltimore. its in the dc corridor where just about all of congress and most of the dc lawyers have their homes. basically the 50 miles north of dc holds the wealth of the nation (stolen from the government).

But yeah it does make Baltimore look like total hell. Same for the old show Homicide.

I wouldn't limit it to north of DC, I'd say 25mi North and 25mi South is more realistic! Don't forget love for us in Northern Virginia specificly Fairfax County.

I use to live in DE and was jailed with a couple motherfuckers from Maryland.. I never have heard about Maryland being so rich and wealthy .. has a nice area here and there but very very much an exception to the rule

Here are the pockets of wealth in Maryland:

Potomac (which everybody has heard of a billion times -- even people in third world countries have heard of Potomac)

Northern Baltimore County.

The northernmost part of Baltimore City (believe it or not -- but that area doesn't even feel like the city)

Just about anywhere near or on the water.

Howard County

As for The Wire. They call it fiction, but that shit is real. I spent two years living in Baltimore City and moved out after a personal incident that taught me that the police protect the wrong people. :Oh crap

Here's a question to ponder:

What does it say that the area closest to the nation's capital, where everybody is supposed to "work for the people" holds one of the largest concentrations of wealth in the world?

Things that make you go hmmmmmmm.

The Wire is great but it doesn't exactly show you the areas of Baltimore that tourists would visit. I have been to the harbour area many times and it is lovely. I haven't done much vacationing in drug dens in other cities to compare Baltimore's to anywhere else in the States.

Oh man, my wife and I are addicted, and we'll be sad when it ends. We're on Season 3 right now. I love me some Omar.

The first 3 seasons are a masterpiece in themselves. The remaining 2 seasons were somewhat of a letdown for me but still better than anything on television.

You want to know "why we are struggling?"

Here's the answer:

Our Congress has been spending like drunken sailors, and Obama is only making it worse.
