Converting a leaving surfer into a signup ? (business thread)

I was wondering if anyone has tried any kind of strategies for turning a surfer who is leaving your site into a signup - i was browsing different paysites the other day and noticed that brandibelle.com use a very aggressive strategy which i found kind of interesting - i think they might be just a bit too aggressive but i like their basis of the idea so was wondering if you have noticed any kinds of sites, mainstream or adult doing stuff like this (links would be nice) ?

Also do you think this kind of strategy works or would you say that it is more likely to scare customers away, meaning the guys that browse the site and then leave only to come back again a couple of days later and join..

If you have tried this kind of thing on your own sites, what where the results to your amount of signups and revenue ?

there are lots and lots of ways. Not all work on any one site so you have to test and test some more..

If you want, Hit me on ICQ and I can go over a few with you.

didnt say they where - just wanted to hear what people though about this aggressive strategy and/or other strategies used on the market..

It is correct as pointed out by the Mac users that it only works on PC but still a share of users thats worth going after ;)
