I need a BAD ASS PC hardware person in here!
Are all internal Western Digital hard drives that are larger than 1TB the new "green" kind? It looks like it to me. The "green" drives are slower. Are the large external eSAtA drives just as fast as internal drives? Please don't guess. Thats why I asked for a bad ass PC hardware guy. I need to KNOW!!!
Thanks in advance! |
They are blue and the green drives run on Vista but the red ones run on XP 2010.

Here ya go. Type in the magical model numbers you neglected to share.

Answer is no. There are plenty that are NOT Green, and if you're looking for huge space + SPEED get the Black drives.
Unless of course you got money for bad ass Raptors(not as large) and/or SSD's :) What you're looking for is this: http://support.wdc.com/product/kb.as...id=613&lang=en OEM - Retail :) :thumbsup |
They have the high performance Black drives in most categories including Terabyte + capacities.
Black = High Performance (Biggest Cache, Highest RPM's, etc.) Blue = Standard Performance (Medium Cache and RPM's) Green = Power Savings (Lower RPM's, more aggressive sleep timings, etc.) |
eSATA and SATA are the same speed from an interface point of view.
What they put in those external boxes is another story |
All of my Current drives are black. I couldn't find 1.5TB or bigger in black but there is a model # in GrouchyAdmin's link for a 2TB one. thanks everyone. I'll google "WD2001FASS"
