Any one made money with twitter? Here is my idea....

I was recently looking @ twitter and that is what is am thinking....Let me know your thinking...

I think if i can manage to sign my models to create twitter profile rather then the business profile i created

www.twitter.com/classycontent

and ask them to post on twitter they will get many followers. but that would not be good for content b2b site.

but that would be good for a pay site because the followers would follow models and sign up for membership.
Do you agree with that?

Also it should be good for solo sites i think..Solo girl presence gets her personal followers and again they will sign up.

in order to promote content site i need to look for adult businesses there and just follow them. they will receive a note form twitter that i follow them and check MY SITE.

That would be step one which is my site will get exposed. also they will follow me and they followers ( adult businesses ) can have a chance to see our business. Am i thinking the right way?

Please share your ideas. Not sure yet but twitter looks like it can get some traffic.

also youtube videos about how to do twitter are very good as well. check it out

I have 1500+ followers on my main Twitter account -- I am working on clearing out the spam bots though.

One word of advice ... INTERACT! I used to just feed my account automatically with links to my posts and traffic died when I started doing that.

BUT, when I started initiating conversation and made it look more like a personal account (even using my own picture), traffic exploded.

alias 09-28-2009 01:24 PM

Now you have 36 followers, the thing is twitter is mostly just other spammers pasting urls.

Sounds like good advice.

Trying to think of more ideas...but Twitter seems great for mostly celebs....

itto 09-28-2009 01:32 PM

there's really so much more when it comes to twitter, than just following people and getting followers.
if used right, it's a very good marketing tool - and it can generate truckloads of targeted traffic. Thing is, even on twitter you need to think outside the box.

If you have a mainstream blog that you actually update it is great if you interact. I have a vegetarian cooking blog that I only just started and have a bunch of followers who not only actually talk to me but then go check out my posts and go 'hey, let me link to you' and the blog is up less than two weeks and pulling good adsense for that amount of time. Nearly all off Twitter traffic.

Sara thank you for sharing...

Twitter works only if you are famous.
If you are not a celebirty, save yourself some time and forget about it.
Not every new and shiny thing can necessarily be used to make money from it.

More advice...don't put a URL in every tweet ... I struggle with that one myself, but it's a good rule to live by.

Some great free twitter tools:

This.

Moderation is the key to monetizing Twitter.

I see a potential for programs that offer banned celebrity pics/videos, I spent today about 6 hours exploring twitter and I guess it will develop in something interesting soon -more commercial- as more third party programs show up (I can't believe there is not a third party program already for celebrity followings only!). Some people think Twitter is Usenet 2.0 (for its posting and threads/hashtags nature) but I'm not sure as Usenet is more anonymous and Twitter is something like Facebook, most users share their real identities. In short, models & celebrities programs might make some money there.

Do you mean solo site models and programs?

Horny Dude 09-29-2009 01:29 AM

I tried doing some dating sales off phony accounts, but the conversions were horrible. Wasn't worth the effort. I was going to try and do a solo girl profile, but hadn't got around to it.

twitter is shit!

Share some tips?

i have 32k followers on one account on twitter and it can generate traffic but nothing fantastic. i used www.twitadict.com to get the followers. I have a smaller webcam twitter and it makes about 200/month with 17k followers not sure it is worth the work.

Ah, I disagree but don't do it in every tweet. I put a url in my tweets about blog updates. Usually my domains are short enough to fit in just fine without tinyurl. However, I mix those in with 'conversational' tweets so people don't think 'hey, more spam again' when I tweet.

Sarah_Jayne 09-29-2009 06:44 AM

Also learn how to use the # tags cleverly and that helps a lot

Sarah,
Just curious - would it be too promotional of you to share your mainstream blog?
Thanks -
David

Iron Fist 09-29-2009 07:11 AM

I think if your clear about that you'll be spamming links most of the time, the people who join already know what to expect. Just be sure you don't put them in popup hell and be consistent with updates and you'll keep getting more followers..

I have a number of them but don't really want to share them on the board because I don't want to risk searches for it showing up the adult connection. However, icq or email me and I will be happy to show the latest one.

you are so right., people on twitter are looking for conversations and interaction, so give'em what they want!

Wow that is very little indeed

AaliyahLove 09-29-2009 01:25 PM

I'm still surprised when I see you webmasters saying things like "Twitter is dumb and useless"
I'm just a model and I have done SO MUCH BUSINESS from every direction from my Twitter page!

I've met photographers and models I've never met before and set up shoots with them, including DEAN CAPTURE
I've recruited webcam models for my studio
I've had webcam customers who spend $5/min and website members who send 29.99 a min say to me "I never even heard of you until I did a pornstar search on Twitter and your pics hooked me, now I'm a member of your site!" I actly got 1 member (that I know of, hopefully more) that signed up for a year membership to my site, and before I hurt my back I have a webcam customer that spend about $100 a night on me from Twitter
I've also doubled the traffic to my blog and get tons of of blog comments from people who would of never visited my blog before, hopefully one day they will spend $ too
I've also sent all of my Twitter followers to my myspace, where I get a chance to spam them some more!:)

You just can't post all links to your stuff or your Twitter page will look like spam and people will stop following you. I make my page a balance between naughty pics, interacting with my followers and links to my site or my blog. Sometimes I get more clicks on a link if I don't explain what it is like I'll put "OMG look at this shit!" and a link to my blog..I know this is all very basic common sense shit, but for me at least, it REALLY WORKS! Way better than myspace ever did, and I was getting 70+ clicks a day into my webcam chatroom from my myspace bulletins alone!:)

ur right the conversions are terrible and what do you expect it's Twitter? but you could literally spend 15mins a day on it and see what it gets you. I never worry about my ratios n conversions, just sign ups!!

nailed it. most of fags out there think this is the hot deal. thing is twitter can't even make money in the long run, otherwise they would've been acquired by now.
