So How DO We Protect Ourselves?

This may sound really dumb, but most of the shit I ask is dumb, because I'm such a newb:1orglaugh

But if there is all this shit going on with stealing and tube sites- has anyone come up with a viable way to protect our content?

guys hate to join pay sites where they can't download the content, but is there a way to make like, one time transferable ONLY, or something?

I mean we put all this energy into producing, promoting and shit, but what about protecting our business???

All these great minds here, someone must have some resources- right?

There must be some way to protect our shit!!!!

Nope! There is no way to protect your stuff. What ever scrambling, encoding, Signed Media systems you use, someone will hack it and then post it on a File Share system unprotected for all to have at it....I have seen people even take a video camera and record right off the screen to pirate porn!

But remember, that pirates don't buy porn and going after them is a useless pursuit. The guys and girls who buy porn are going after some rather fancy they have to fill and those who buy tend to form a relationship with you where they trust you to create the content they like and communicate with them about what is coming up next. The key is to cultivate the relationships and not worry about those who will jack your product for a few quick bucks...in the long run they never survive...all pirates end up hung!

not in this industry. Many of the big players started off stealing content and are still going today. :2 cents:

So Do You think it could end up somewhat like the music industry did with illegal downloads of MP3's n' stuff?

Like, after millions are lost to pirating- we might finally catch a break under some form of controlled legislation?

what about 2257? If these places are distributing porn- aren't they bound by 2257 Regulations???
Don't they 'HAVE' to provide documentation for what they're playing on their sites?

If we can't stop it before it starts- maybe we can combat the legal infractions after they happen?

Surely there is something that can be done- right?

These tube sites- where are they making their $$$... in advertising probably, but to advertise what... Paid sites most likely... but if everything is been given away for free on tube sites- who's gonna pay for the PAID sites???
uh- No one!?!

I think the first logical step would be to BOYCOTT advertising on those venues:warning

Take away as much funding as you possibly can, yeah it may hurt your advertising a bit at first, but in the long run, forming an alliance with Industry Positive Programs will promote paid industry!!!

I dunno?
It's just a though?:2 cents:

What about DRM? Isn't this topic exactly what DRM is for? Sure, there are hacks and workarounds, but the average surfer won't want to put in the extra effort. Maybe the people that create and upload the bittorrents will have a go at stripping the DRM for tube sites, but then the tubesites will have to compensate them in some way for their time, adding additional overhead, and it still adds an extra layer of 'intent' on the tubesites behalf. Let's all start DRMing everything and 10 years from now, when tramp stamps are out and hairy beavers and chests are back in, surfers will be forced to join paysites again, unless they like their granddads porn. Or I could just DRMing.:2 cents:

Give all recorded shit away for free as promo, and only charge for live shows?

even ones who try to come off as clean and on high moral ground, back in the day before they were big enough for cross sale carding... these fucks were running msg boards with surfers trading zips but want to be known as Mr Morals now LOL :1orglaugh

Ok so it looks like this is gonna be a hard to deal with and shit, but doing anything is better than doing nothing isn't it?

Lets stop giving tube sites 'our' ad space now! Make that the first step in many to come?

Just a thought?

And I do have a few more on the way too....
