Now for some GOOD news... hopefully the US follows this trend soon

There is one market where ONLINE AD SALES have overtaken TV AD SALES--The UK, baby! http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/8280557.stm Hopefully, this trend makes it to the US.
Online advertising spending in the UK has overtaken television expenditure for the first time, a report has said.

Online spending grew 4.6% to £1.752bn in the first half of 2009, while TV spending shrank 16.1% to £1.639bn.

Overall advertising fell 16% compared with the same period in 2008, said the study by the Internet Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

E-mail campaigns, classified adverts, display ads and search marketing are all classed as online advertising.

It has been moving this way for a few years now.

Online ad sales are easier to track, and can show a better ROI to advertisers, or clients, then traditional sales models.

:2 cents:

In almost every online ad campaign that I have run for the past few years, the cost per acquisition has been LOWER online than on TV. However, over the past few years the cost has gone up, but thats only because of more advertisers, but still well below Radio and TV
