Idea to locate stolen audio/video online
The watermark idea is good for the future but not past.
Here is what is 100% doable If you ever used shazam you'd know how its extremely accurate, use that same technology to locate stolen music and movies. Now that harddrives costs nothing (50terabytes about $3500) the idea is that you can take the top offending sites, once a month load all their new stuff and compare if any of the audio matches what you own, if it does send dmca automatically. This is something doable and based on technology that works. |
yah, i was talking about this same exact thing b4, youtube uses this techno to find cr'd music

Is the shazam technology to identify audio available for licensing/sale?

Sounds pretty simple for someone able to do all of that, it would work good in this kind of biz but the people on youtube have already gotten past that, they will very slightly speed up or slow down a video/song so it passes this security..

What eventually will happen is that this technology will become very cheap and commonplace. When that happens all tubes (not just youtube) will have to implement this technology in order to show that they are doing what they can to police their servers for copyrighted content.

So you play a clip of a porn vid into the iphone and it seeks out copies existing on the web?

It would be interesting to see how accurately it can determine grunts and moans. :1orglaugh
