I'm going to be learning more on there from now on, so many excellent things you can do with it in such a small time compared to PS. |
So what do you wanna say, that stealing content is ok???
|
I've got a CS license. You're probably right though, I bet maybe 10% of people that have Photoshop have a license for it, if that.

all my software is licensed, including adobe creative suite premium. i also try and not do business with designers using pirated software. i always ask upfront and the ones that have a pirated copies all crow about it like they cracked it with their l33t skillz
|
well I know you are against it, but thread name like this could mean you're telling it's ok to steal... the fact is that lots of people don't have ps license, but we all first should protect OUR interest as group, and not some multi millionaire corporation with PR10 :)

I have a PS license and never really learned how to use it. Have had one for 10+ years now. I don't know why, but I've even upgraded it along the way once in awhile.
|
I have long used Photoimpact and it is paid for plus paid upgrades.
I bet dreamweaver is another...They should put out a lite version that doesn't cost so much. I am lucky that years ago I was given a legit copy as a gift but I have stuck with that version. An upgrade would be good. |
i paid for it..................i actually did..........
not impressed with how many people didn't though |
donkevlar, I brought up this same point along the way.. .
|
Licenced and legit copies of everything since day one. Wouldn't have it any other way. :2 cents:
|
Nice to see you supporting the industry. Talk about a bad post.
|
I have never paid for a single piece of software since first having a computer and I am proud of it
oh, I also surf porn on megaporn.com all day long one more thing, I have not paid for a single piece of music since around 1998 |
The thing is, piracy actually benefits Adobe.
Without piracy, teens and college students simply wouldn't be using Photoshop. So GIMP would get a higher userbase and more developers, meaning it would get better and more new designers would be used to it. Meanwhile, PSP would sell more licenses, meaning they could invest more in development. Essentially, PS would lose its dominant position in a matter of years. |
Photoshop is one of the very few App's that likely was made as popular as it is today through piracy.
While of course it doesn't excuse it, I'm pretty sure Adobe has even stated this as fact. Another program that has benefited from piracy is 3D studio max and likely Maya and the other popular 3d software. The reason, is gamers mainly building mods for popular games. Companies like Adobe know 13 year old kids aren't gonna have $600 to buy their software. 3D studio max is around $2k last I check and Maya was around 2k to 5k I think. The deal is these gamer kids pirate these products and start learning them to work on game mods. Many of these kids go on to start a career or go to school to learn 3D/ Game design, web design and so on then later become professionals whom do use the products in the work place. I think companies like Adobe turn a blind eye to these kind of users and look at it more as an investment in their future user/customer base. On the flip side, people pirating their products and using them to make money do hurt the companies. ( like a adult webmaster) I can tell you I started out using Photoshop & 3D max in much the same manor. I started learning both to work on game mods then later took some classes in 3D and eventually became a customer. (however I switched to a different 3D platform over time) While I never went on to do game design, I went into web work instead and I will admit I learned on pirated copies. While maybe it wasn't right, I can tell you I most likely would have never become a Adobe customer or started working with websites had I not learned on Pirated copies probably 8 or 10 years ago. |
