apple did not invent the computer or the laptop so they are completely ripping off someone...

This thread sucks

eddieinaz 10-03-2009 08:31 AM

If I find out anyone is ripping anyone off I will shove a bottle of Tequila up their ass!

I actually like eating apples. I don't Krypton had apples.

I have a serious question..... Why is there not an HP Envy17 ??? I would rather have a 17"

geedub 10-03-2009 08:50 AM

zomg zomg zomg.

okny 10-03-2009 08:53 AM

Looks nice think will order one.

Libertine 10-03-2009 09:03 AM

Not surprising. Apple owns the >$1500 computer market. It's only logical that others would want to step into that piece of the market, since it happens to be rather lucrative.

VeriSexy 10-03-2009 09:44 AM

looks like any other laptop

Were calling computers "Envy" now? Kind of retarded...

MetaMan 10-03-2009 10:14 AM

i dont think anyone would go out of there way to copy a product as shitty as apple.

Killswitch - BANNED FOR LIFE 10-03-2009 10:14 AM

It's called "Envy" for the exact reason this thread was made.

They envy Apple.

woj 10-03-2009 10:15 AM

NaughtyRob 10-03-2009 10:46 AM

Who really gives a fuck about an aluminum case? Get a fucking laptop bag don't buy into the hype like all the Apple fucks.

HomerSimpson 10-03-2009 12:02 PM

no one knows how alu cases do perform... are they scratch resistant? how about temperature changes (in colder areas when you go from -15 to +25)? Will it always be metal cold? How will that cold metal affect your hands and ankles?

d-null 10-03-2009 12:03 PM

HP makes good laptops :2 cents:

Black backlit keys, black edge around the screen with both the screen and the edge covered by glass, etc.

Why are there so many angry people that don't like Apple computers?

I have 3 macs. I am not a mac head though. The thing is mac people think they are fighting the man (gates) by buying a mac who has this misnomer about being anti-establishment. Steve Jobs is the biggest capitalist there is and is just as, if not more greedy that Gates. But he sold that story to mac heads like david koresh did to the branch davidians. Mac people are like tree huggers. They mean well, but you want to slap the taste out of their mouths.

That's what cracks me up. People don't realize how much corporate greed is at the center of the Apple story. The reason they don't own the PC market is because they never wanted to give up anything and be open the way PCs and Windows are. Not to mention, if Apple owned the PC market, computer technology would be about 10 years behind what it is today. The open architecture of the PC is what caused the whole computer technology boom. Tons of different companies can always move an industry faster than one, which is what Apple wants.

I do give Apple an ENORMOUS amount of credit for they way they branded themselves and their advertising campaigns are second to none in the industry. But they are about as "corporate" as you can get.

Unfortunately, they are making the same dumb play with smartphones as they did with PCs. By keeping the iphone and iphone apps all under one roof, they will slowly become a niche player in the smartphone market, just like what happened with PCs. Eventually, the smartphone will be like PCs and Microsoft will run the software underneath for most of them with tons of apps and an open architecture that lets anyone build a phone.

Apple was the original mainstream PC, then they got greedy, didn't want open architecture, and became a niche player. They are doing the same with the smartphone.

Apple should go back to old skool and make a computer in wood.

SomeCreep 10-03-2009 09:22 PM

Apple ripped off Xerox. Microsoft ripped off Apple. It's all good.

I agree with Duke, those are some damn good points and I'd be willing to bet, you're 100% right the smartphone situation.

Haters, hate. It's what they do.

split_joel 10-04-2009 02:02 PM

The problem with apple is with intel inside they are way over priced.

For example the Mac Pro basic,

One 2.66GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon "Nehalem" processor

3 Gigs of ram, 640 gig hard drive, 18x double-layer SuperDrive, NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 with 512MB

2,499.00

I can get this same exact setup with 4 gigs of ram and put osx on it for just under 1 grand.
