Any 80's kids remember these commercials ?

Some of the ones I just watched that sent me down memory lane. Post some that you remember and prove that advertising to kids works if we still remember them this long down the road.

I also remember the He-Man slime commercial because I begged my mom for it but she never gave in because of the mess it would cause on the carpet.

These two are probably early 90's -

totally..my mom even bought the picture pages for us..it was actually on before Nick but they then picked it up.

I knew Bill Cosby for that and Fat Albert way before I knew he was a comedian. In fact, I think that is why I held him mentally in a bit higher place in my mind for years and let him sell me pudding pops.

Between picture pages and Reading Rainbow, I would get a lot of good stuff in my brain first thing in the morning.

Sarah_Jayne 10-05-2009 03:26 AM

I was thinking of the Kool Aid ones too...I sang the bologna song the other day and my British husband thought I was even more mental than normal. But then, they don't even sell bologna over here so what do they know..lol

Sarah_Jayne 10-05-2009 03:29 AM

Wow..anybody remember Mr. Yuck..no wonder I had a complex!

My mom had those green stickers all over the place. I think my Nana's place might still have some on a couple cupboard doors.

Look for mortadella. I do not care what they say or call it. It takes 100% like bologna. OK slightly better but still the damn same.

brassmonkey 10-05-2009 04:02 AM

damn i remember all of them :(

kane 10-05-2009 04:06 AM

Wow. Those bring back some real memories. I had a couple of madballs. I had the one that was just an eye and a couple of others. A friend of mine has the greyskull castle and I was pretty jealous :)

Yeah, you have just recently been able to get that in Uk supermarkets but it isn't cheap. Posh bologna..lol The whole point is to remind me of my white trash days.

Technically it is Italian, not Polish. Then to make matters worse Mortadella was invented in the town Bologna.
So pretty sure it is pretty much what they brought to the US. It is just as ghetto tasting, unless your parents also got the giant chunks inside of the red plastic casing that you had to self cut. Then yes that was ubber ghetto, but been there done that.

It is sold as Italian here. You have always been able to buy a sort of version of the casing one over here but they call it polony. It isn't exactly the same but just as low class as the stuff I grew up around.

If I am going to eat a sausage like that, the PA dutch gal in me has to make it ring bologna. It is nearly always on offer at any social gathering my Nana throws.

Consider it research into how to really make advertising stick.

fatfoo 10-05-2009 11:58 AM

No, I do not remember such things. I am too young to remember this.

Brandon99 10-05-2009 12:00 PM

Sleazy posted in in post #5

Anybody remember the McDonald's one which was all about saying all the ingredients on the big mac in one breath? They even put out a record with it on to practice.

Deej 10-05-2009 01:43 PM

The guy that drove it said it was a chick magnet. It was one of those odd, funny and memorable days.

I only knew a couple kids who actually had the castle. It was like the boy version of the Barbie dream house.

Little sister....hehe

Though, most of my Lite Brite memories are of my mother having one fit after another about me not burning down the house while using it.

Wow. I graduated in 1984 from a small all-girl's catholic school in Hawaii. What's funny is all the stuff I wore in high school when that New Wave/Punk look was in style and now it's come back around! Now that's feelin' old! Lol

HouseHead 10-06-2009 03:47 PM
