How to filter traffic according to country
 

I had a big text file like a year ago that I used to get a visitors country location based on their IP, but I lost it :(

Anyone have some stuff like this?

Here's a free database that's regularly updated - http://www.maxmind.com/app/geolitecountry

If you have MySQL then it should be easy to import & query.

That generates a htaccess file that lists every IP range for the countries you specify. Seems pretty painful to have to parse thousands of deny lines for every request (including images)...

Following up from above ^^^

I did a fairly restrictive setup which disallowed everything except major known countries in the north america, UK, Europe and pacific regions.

The generated htaccess is 17,500 lines long!!!
