Client Renew Prohibited?
So I noticed that an affiliate who used to send me decent traffic seemed to have their site down. I checked the search engines to try to find them and then did a whois. This is what it said on the whois:
Sponsoring Registrar:GoDaddy.com, Inc. Status:CLIENT DELETE PROHIBITED Status:CLIENT RENEW PROHIBITED Status:CLIENT TRANSFER PROHIBITED Status:CLIENT UPDATE PROHIBITED What does it mean when a domain is set to expire kind of a long time in the future and it is still registered to the original person, but they do not appear to be able to use or admin it? |
|
Can I please see your tits?

Domain expired I guess, he still has some chances to renew it...
|
Maybe his account got locked up.

Could simply be in a normal Registrar-Lock. Some registrars "lock" all changes at the registry level while many others simply "lock" only transfer outs.
The statuses you list are normal, and alone don't mean anything in regards to it being expired or not. It may be in the 45 day auto-renew grace period, but no way to know from the info you've provided. Query whois.godaddy.com (or do so from their website) and check the expiration date at the registRAR level (GoDaddy). If it's recently past and yet is shown as being in 2010 at the regisTRY level (VeriSign), it's most likely expired, but still renewable (auto-renew grace period) by the registrant. Ron |
