Disk Recovery Service Recommendations?
I've got an external drive that crashed(Seagate - 1TB). I'm pretty sure it's the arm. Well, I know the arm is bad, just don't know what ELSE might be bad. I had a similar situation with a drive and had a place locally that just swapped the drive from the bad enclosure to a new one and I was able to recover everything. However, that disk was full of misc whatever and this new disk is full of porn. The service I used last time told me straight up they won't do a disk full of porn.
I contacted one company in Cali but they told me it could be anywhere from $200 to $2000 dollars and they won't know which till they get it. Of course, this leads me to believe it's gonna be at the top end once they have my disk in their hands. The local company charged me $50 to swap disk enclosures. Anyone have any suggestions on where I can go to just have them swap enclosures? If the content is unrecoverable, it's not the end of the world but if I can get it back for a reasonable price, I'd like to do that. It's almost a full TB of data. Anyone? |
