Football explained for Americans [pic]
|
Hey, hey, don't be fuckin with Emmit Smith.
. |
in my American opinion, all sports are dumb no matter what you call it. I guess the men in tights thing just too much for most to look away...
|
Come on, they kick it like once every 4-10 plays, maybe foothandegg
|
Here's another difference between the two. It's fans

How about a timeline picture for retarded foreigners?

And yes, American football does seem a little strange being called football since the ball is hardly ever used with the foot. Things that make ya go, hmmmmmmmmm..... |

I like creating things that I then OWN and others have to link to use ;) the irony of being attacked for creating something instead of stealing is funny. |

I have much better things to do than attack people I dont know on forums, but since I had PS open, I figured why not make one! Funny how you turn a humor image thread into this :1orglaugh |
Quote:
hoever, you DID attack all Americans with your original image ;) |

back in the day, football players didn't wear much if any padding, and soft leather helmets, similar to rugby. But due to injuries, american ingenuity came to the rescue with good solid protective gear and it is now required due to the brutality of the sport. in fact, football is not interrupted as much due to less injuries sustained during game play, thanks to the advances in protection. |

As I understand it, delays are actually naturally built in to the rules of American Football? Seems they actually stop running about doing the actual sport part or actually doing anything strenuous every few minutes, then they get their breath back, kick the ball down the field a bit? Quote:
Well done for setting the record straight. :) |

How is it attacking "all Americans" by posting a joke picture taking the piss out of you for calling your padded version of rugby football? I was attacking the person who called the game football initially, if anyone. But really, I wasn't attacking anyone. I was just posting a funny image. Calm down dear, this is just the internet. xxx |
srsly wrong to use Emmit smith's picture in this manner :helpme

no, football isn't stopped every few minutes, as you suggest. not sure what the rest of the world thinks of football players. either way, perhaps i misunderstood the gist of this thread you started, but it appeared to be a sarcastic commentary on the sport, which is fine, no offense taken, americans can laugh at ourselves. but it remains that rugby isn't strictly "football" either and it's also played with an egg-shaped ball. |

"It remains that rugby isn't strictly football"? Who suggested it was? In this country, when we come up with new sports, we tend to use a new word to describe that sport. This is why rugby isn't called football. It's BECAUSE IT'S RUGBY. Hope that helps your clear confusion in this matter. xxx |
Quote:
Is there blocking in rugby? Are there blind side hits in rugby? Are there head on collisions? Why do you think there are way more injuries in football than in any other sport? Do you think they just wear those pads cuz they look cute? Watch this video and tell me if there are hits like this in rugby: |
Quote:
You have clearly never seen a game of rugby being played. |
Quote:
Like I posted above, yes I have. And I have spoken with rugby players who agree. The entire mentality of football is more violent. But I am sure you understand very little about American football. But go ahead and post the most vicious rugby hits and let's see if they can compare to the video I posted above. |

moreover, your confusion is compounded by the fact the rugby is short for the sport known as rugby FOOTBALL. like american football (gridiron football), the name has been shortened to simply, rugby. we shortened the name to football, because calling it gridiron or american would not make much sense, i suppose. |

lol didn't we just have this discussion in amsterdam and you hate soccer and football both? btw missed you @ oktoberfest :(
|
[QUOTE=dyna mo;16421153]i'm not the slightest bit confused, my good man. it appears the confusion lies with you if you believe this thread displays american's view of themselves
no, sweety, I didn't say that, did I? But you go ahead and tear down straw men all day if it gets you off. Quote:
I wonder why we didn't shorten it to football too? Oh! Maybe BECAUSE THERE ALREADY WAS A GAME CALLED FOOTBALL. Sigh. |
Quote:
I just posted the pic as a joke and all sorts of rootin' tootin' Americans are taking it as some sort of cultural attack on your whole country. Amusingly enough. :) Aww, I'd have love to go to Oktoberfest. Next year man, next year! |
gotta love the assholes who think they are never wrong

no need to sigh, mate, it's all in jest. that's why i posted the particular rugby pic i did (you know, the gay one) tear down straw men? not sure where i misrepresented your position, just having a bit of fun with ya, just like you are doing with the thread and title eh. |
Almost 20 million Americans play soccer in leagues annually. We really don't need to be educated.

New Lolly Badcock FHG will be ready soon.
|
Oh lookie. A Mac user saying something stupid. I've never seen THAT before. :1orglaugh
Look at the size of American football players. Do you know how to calculate kinetic energy? Their size and speed is unmatched in any sport on the planet. The energy in which they collide easily breaks bones, hence all the padding. Rugby players are generally smaller. Less mass means less kinetic energy which means less potential for injury. The hits are infinitely less brutal and come from much smaller players which negates the need for padding. |

:) I want someone with the american flag tattooed on their face to post a video rant calling me a fag soon. |

Sigh. You are really not even worth debating this with if that is your opening gambit. |
