Are all great chess players geniuses?
Is this true? Or is chess just another game that can be mastered after years of playing?

I don't know if genius is the right word. Several chess masters in history have had the innate ability to think 20 moves ahead and were consumate strategists as well as masters of the mind game going on above the board, but in their private lives they were a blithering mess of foibles, hangups and eccentricities.
Idiot savante would be a more appropriate term for a few of them. |
So they are more skilled in chess but less intelligent in anything else?
skills in chess doesn't help to play arcade games
No, they are just good at memorizing moves.
I have yet to meet anybody that was really good at chess that wasn't also amazingly smart and had the ability to be single minded when needed.
Many just learn openings and shit but are actually dumb asses that'd click on you are winner banner
