Had a crazy night! One of those moments in life you have no control over.

Almost got seriously F'd up on the 118 Freeway at 11PM tonight! I ran over a bike in the POURING RAIN going about 50mph with about 15 foot visibility - and it got STUCK under my car!

Then I pulled over on the shoulder and tried to pry the bike out. NO DICE! Then I noticed 2 cars pulling up on the shoulder behind me - and 2 guys got out ... For a quick sec I thought I was gonna get car jacked! Instead, one guy with a flashlight tried to pull the bike out while I backed up! NO DICE! Then when I stopped the car ... he gave it another try and BAM - it came out!

It was some REAL LIFE good samaritan type shit AND the 2 guys didn't even know each other - they just pulled over because they saw the bike on the road ... and were going to try and pull it off so nobody got into an accident ... then they saw me drive over it and came to help ME!

IN THE VALLEY!

IN THE POURING RAIN!

ON THE SHOULDER OF A FWY!

@ 11 PM!

Thanks AGAIN guys! I hope Good Karma is goes your way!

:thumbsup:thumbsup

J$tyle$ 10-14-2009 12:43 AM

the bike was in the middle lane of the freeway .... no kid

EDIT: but you are now the 3rd person to ask about the rider ;)

BAKO 10-14-2009 12:43 AM

Glad you ok

Later today...

In other news a dead little boy's body is discovered almost 2.5 miles from where his mangled bike is found along the freeway today. Police are searching for the hit and run driver but have limited details to go by.

A - my bad in not clarifying ... it was a bike frame.
B - I have a 5 yr old son. If I thought that was even a remote possibility I would have never left the scene and called the cops myself.
C - If I hear anything on the news, I'll turn myself in immediately :2 cents:

Its right when those type of things happen that your most alive. You could've probably watched a fly poop in mid air.

I hit a blown truck tire the other night and I JUST saw it right at impact before I could even say fuck i looked in the rear view and watched it in slow-mo fly up and hit the front of another car. Seemed like 5 minutes that my eyes were off the road

wdsguy 10-14-2009 01:25 AM

driving in la is harsh i've came close to running across all sorts of things on the 101 and the 5. I imagine its much worse driving at nite in the rain.

The kid is still under his car. He won't find out until morning when the cops ring his doorbell.

It was a "reality moment"! Extremely exhilarating from the second I saw the bike frame in the road until driving off after it was all done ... it all happened so fast, but you are right - everything was in slo-mo!

ContentPimp 10-14-2009 02:51 AM

damn, i almost hit a cow yesterday

beemk 10-14-2009 04:06 AM

reminds me of the episode of its always sunny a few weeks ago when they ran over the mountain bike.

"it looks like you got a good deal of mountain bike in your axle bro"

Adam X 10-14-2009 04:22 AM

One of those 2 second heart attack moments. Surreal slow-mo. Glad it worked out safely.

Your undercarriage must be all discombobulated.

pornocruto 10-14-2009 04:44 AM

That sucks, how is the car?

Vicious_B 10-14-2009 06:08 AM

Its rare but there are people still willing to help others out these days.

Fletch XXX 10-14-2009 06:10 AM

"I ran over a bike in the POURING RAIN going about 50mph with about 15 foot visibility"

Never drive that fast when you cant see 15 foot in front of your vehicle..., you are asking for this type of stuff since you have no time to stop once you DO see something LOL.

Sober? Your thread title suggests you had no control over the situation, but thats not true buddy. ;)

Sarah_Jayne 10-14-2009 06:17 AM

Consider yourself seriously lucky there was no kid on the bike. A relative of mine had something similar happen but there was a kid. Yup, he did jail time.

tranza 10-14-2009 06:38 AM

Good to know nothing happened to you!

AaliyahLove 10-14-2009 12:42 PM

Damn Jonathan I was so scared for you when KB called me and told me right after it happened.. You are lucky you didn't make a split second decision to slam on your breaks or try to swerve because you def would of been worse off. You are also lucky there was nobody right behind you to slam into you or to the left of you so you were able to pull over fast!
Is your car damaged at all?

dyna mo 10-14-2009 12:48 PM

that's why i only ride my bike in the slow lane on 118.

JenniDahling 10-14-2009 01:56 PM

Glad you're ok!

TheAmericanCannibal 10-14-2009 02:00 PM

It was all Joey Grecco's fault!
