Maybe i'm ignorant... but what is the deal with "No congent" really? What is the big problem with having Cogent bandwidth?

There is no problem, Cogent had a bad name for being shit bandwidth. However cogent is in just as much if not more data centers and has its own fibers as much as most top tier providers. Cogent has become very stable and has remained really cheap. A lot of hosts just use it as a selling point.

I can give you level 3 straight for 5.5 /mbit
tier2 network (good quality, blend) 3/mbit
budget network 1gbit + server 2500 for 1gbit

The problem with Cogent is cogents policies. the biggest problem with cogent now ofcourse is that they are more expensive than everyone else above 1gbit lols.

fuck you can buy level 3 cheaper than cogent now lol. Let this be lesson to all us price cutters!
