Scamming... everyone's doing it! and making bank too!

Just had the news on and heard about this guy that setup this job application scam. Posted all over the internet (probably CL) and local paper about warehouse jobs that paid between $12 and $20 per hour.

You had to fill out this job application and pay a $100 fee (background check, etc.) for the job. This guy had setup an office and everything, even had two employees.

They said they estimated between 200 and 500 people had applied for the "job" and paid the fee. The hiring process was supposed to begin next week, but when some people called, they noticed no one answered the phone. Went to their office and it was closed...

The local news went to the office and they were shut down. Talked to the employees who were also scammed out of getting paid for work.

News reporter interviewed the local police who said they have about 50 people who reported this scam but said "there is nothing we can do right now and [guys name] is not charged with a crime at this time."

WHAT THE FUCK!?!?!?!? he just scammed between $20k and $50k out of people and walks away? WOW!!!

The immediate red flag to me is the $100 application fee..

That's horrible, it is almost a scam in itself.

I bet a bunch of illegal aliens desperate for work paid it. That's what happens when you don't understand how scam artists in this country work. :1orglaugh

On a side note, poor idiotos.

well $30 is a bit high for an application fee but I own apartments in LA and I charge a $25 credit check fee (Sometimes people call it an application fee) .

It covers my cost to runa credit check and weeds out the lookie lous so it might be valid but more then $25 is unreasonable to me .

Paying an up fee on an apartment/rental property and paying an ap fee for a job are completely different things.

They should have just set up an online traffic brokerage, that seems the easiest scammy way to make money these days on the web.
