Looking for an adult industry attorney

I'm looking for an attorney who can advice me on opening an adult business with a physical location. Can someone recommend one in California?

I think I've tried them before.

If you're on XBiz.net, try Chaz or PepperLaw (I think that those are exact nicks on there). Chaz is very knowledgeable, great to coordinate with, and I'm 99% certain that he's in Cali. PepperLaw is there as well and offers many different services but I've never actually used them.

You have and I am not the guy for opening a physical store location. You will need someone that is very familar with local zoning laws in the area in which you want to open your location.

Chad is in Arizona and Dan Pepper is in NJ. Both are very good however I would recommend Clyde DeWitt. Clyde has spent his entire career specializing in strip clubs and adult store litigation. He not only knows First Amendment but also zoning.

Clyde is licensed in California and Nevada. Hope that helps.

Bump for Michael on this post, obviously knowledgeable. Thanks for the corrections, 'close but no cigar' on my side. :)

Open a trade mag. Some are listed in there. Also a number on XBIZ.

Good luck chief.

Michael, can you pass my information to him please?

Chad Belville and Mike are most often referenced in my experience.

I would but I dont know how Clyde feels about making the first contact with a potential client. Lawyers shouldnt be making the first call, its kind of sleazy even if the potential client is asking....

Here's his website... http://www.clydedewitt.com/ - give him a call.

Tell him I sent you - no referral on this.

Thank you, I'll give him a call and see if this is something that he can oversee.

They haven't updated their site since January 17, 2009. Suspicious. How long would it take them to respond, one wonders?

I dont know.... he is one of the least accessible attorneys in the adult biz...:1orglaugh

<-------- you might want to look to your left....

Lots of lawyers over at http://www.ynot.com too. Good luck!

Redrob 10-19-2009 09:16 PM

Jeffrey Douglas in Santa Monica would be high on my list. His experience the adult industry is second to none.

Also, Roger Diamond is a real down-to-earth kind of adult attorney that takes some tough cases and wins.

Clyde De Witt or John Weston would be good choices as well. All are very competent.

baycouples 10-19-2009 09:58 PM

I've contacted Roger Diamond who I saw one a big case in the SF Bay Area against a city for a book store.

He turned out to be rude on the phone. I went with Clyde DeWitt who I got a lot of recommendations for and that guys is absolutely supperb. I'm going to now exclusively use his services. Thank you everybody who helped me in my search.

BluMedia 10-27-2009 12:15 AM

Chad Belville is actually not accepting new clients right now. He is our full time attorney.
