Like Pizza? The Top Fattiest Franchise Pizzas...

Pizza is not a terrible food choice, as long as you don't overindulge. "Most people eat too many slices and choose the wrong toppings," says Keri Gans, R.D., a spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association. Pizza can give you a great opportunity to eat vegetables and get a healthy dose of calcium and protein as well.

The mistake most people make is they choose a thick, calorie-laden crust and pile on lots of greasy meat. In fact, these four popular franchise pizzas are the pies you'll want to stay away from the most:

Yes. Because white flour, cheese and processed "tomato"sauce is good food!
Don't forget kids that ketchup and fries = vegetables.

I really do not like pizza with a thick crust. The only two places in Toronto I get pizza from at Terroni or Pizzaiola -- very thin crust and tasty / not overdone toppings :)

one of the best things my wife ever bought was kick ass bread machine, we make our own pizza dough from scratch, this week she made those big 8 inch soft pretzels, man its so fucking good.

love home made breads

I already know that pizza itself can be a healthy choice.

Just do not go with adding a pound of sausage uncooked, plus a another pound of cheese for a Chicago deep dish, or 100 slices of non pre rendered pepperoni on a pie that has a half pound of 4 different cheeses. Things like that.

Two of my favorites still are a simple thin crust, very light sauce pizza with a couple thin slices of mozzarella and some basil or another thin crust with either a pesto or altered red sauce, and clams.

Chain wise my favorite from Round table is the garden veggie delight (or the other veggie one) with light on the sauce and cheese, add chicken breast chunks.

I can't believe Edwardo's meat lover's deep dish didn't make that cut!

hell yeah! But thats trickier than it sounds.... we've tried to do quite a few bread expriements with garlic, onion, penos etc... its like science and can mess up the batch fairly quickly.

We've made a few loafs that didnt come out right because we tried adding things LOL

but overall its been lots of fun and love the bread

brassmonkey 10-20-2009 12:19 PM

It lists top franchise chains. Even on that list I did not recognise a couple and for sure not Edwardo's.

We make simple home made pizzas. We use a low carb tortilla shell and then minimal sauce on top of that with mozzarella and topings of our choice. Can make it pretty healthy that way as long as you don't load up with a ton of meat etc.

Individual slices are for sissies.

OK Adam Richman.

I have come across slices that are equal to a medium pizza. Can not wait to see you eat the whole pie.

Sands could probably do it. The guy eats a NY large pizza by folding it up as a taco and eats it. One of his many talents.

Aren'T you supposed to fold a NY style piece by law?
Not sure how that works with a crispy crust. Plus thanks to the blind taste tests apparently their water does do something extra to the dough, which I now believe. Makes me very curious now.

Spunky 10-20-2009 07:06 PM

It isn't a pizza if it isn't loaded with meat and cheese.I only order one maybe once a month
