Which camera would you get?
Both are about $300 I have heard both have poor video in zoom, lots of mixed reviews. I'm leaning towards the cannon but people have said the picture is bad, not sure how. Same pixels, same high def video. the cannon has 12 times optical zoom where the samsung has 5 but I like the dual lcd. The cannon is made in Japan btw
Canon sx200is http://www.hostive.com/out.php/i22447_Canonsx200is.jpg or Samsung tl220 http://www.hostive.com/out.php/i2244...ngtl220550.jpg |
I'm pretty partial to canon myself :thumbsup

I'm a Canon person myself so I'd go with the Canon

Camera # 1 FTW !!
|
|
I like them all!!!!!
|
I have no idea. Japan is good quality.
|
Canon for sure!
|
i am surprised you can get hd video in a $300 pos camera.
probably the video sucks real bad in either, so look at the reviews on how they excel at taking photographs and ease of use.. |
Leica is the best in the world. But they are also the most expensive.

I don't like the Flash on the Canon you showed us, so have to be Samsung.
However, that 4.6 optical zoom makes me think it is a very old camera. |

I might just hold off for a month until some reviews surface. |
I recently picked up a Samsung point and shoot. To be honest, I am not sure how I feel about it. I liked my Fujifilm better, although this does have a better zoom.
I am getting to the point that I like my Rebel more, but it just isn't practical for my use many times. |
If you are looking for easy to use and upload HD video for not a lot of $ check out the Flip Ultra HD. I love mine and take it everywhere I go. It is under $200 and fits in your pocket and uploading is super easy.

Just an FYI: 99% of the Amsterdam pics I took in this thread were taken with the Samsung (Germany and Castles were primarily the Rebel).

I like canon

If you want to choose between those two, I'd go for Canon as Samsung tends to have a shorter life span and also make lower quality images.
Leica produces the best lenses in the world. I have this one from Panasonic ( TZ7) with a Leica lens, my best compact ever! http://digitalbestbuys.com.au/images/TZ7.jpg CNET review a 9.3 http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/digitalcam...9302314,00.htm |
100% canon. Samsung blows. My buddies Samsung lcd jsut blew up on him and I have read so many reviews as samsung being unreliable and breaking. I spent $499 on a canon g10, voted best point and shot on the planet last year. It even has the ability to use an SLR lens! it is an amazing camera. I set it to cloudy and 2/3 stop and my pictures look so professional in any light.
|
Canon would probably the choice I make.
|
I picked up a Canon G10 about 2 months ago. Larger body than the two you posted but the picture quality is unbelieveable (@ $450). I use it for shooting mainstream stock ($$$). Have always has great experiences with Canon PowerShot cameras.
Our family point and shoot is a Lumix with a Leica lens. I don't know the model off hand (something like FX100) and as Closer mentioned above it is also one of the best point and shoots I've owned as well. Piture quality is tight and the body is solid. I dropped it once on a cement walkway and there was barely any damage and it has continued working perfectly... |

I will be getting one in the new year. |
Go with Canon!
|
I think that there are better cameras available for that price range but if i had to choose between the 2 that you displayed I would go for the canon.
|
Canon out of the two
|
Samsung maybe have the looks
but I'd go with Canon |

Sweet specs & vintage look... I might need to pick one up myself. |
when it comes to cameras, I always go with CANON, but I know lots of people that will say go with a NIKON...
Panasonic cameras have LEICA lens... so they are also great... and Sony now owns MINOLTA... so every option is a great option... as for sansung I don't know much about their cameras... |
It needed to be able to store in a jean pocket, hence the smaller point and shoots.
