d-null 10-25-2009 10:07 PM

will be interesting to see how things unfold in the next couple of years

So.. you couldn't make a PayPal transaction through your phones browser before this? I never tried or did it but it didn't seem impossible.

Could someone explain what this enables aside from what we could already accomplish?

Have not read or checked article yet, but I do have a paypal ap on my G1 android phone. I can access my account, get balance info, send money, view past transactions, etc. Just like normal paypal. Without using the phones browser of course.

how is it different from the API they had before?

TidalWave 10-26-2009 01:28 AM

This is only beneficial to companies or individuals who do not already have their own merchant accounts?? I don't see how this gives anyone more freedom then something that is already coded around a direct merchant account.

They could do all this shit before, but didnt, but now that Paypal allows it, everyone will??

the old api was a resource pig

quantum-x 10-26-2009 03:14 AM

This isn't so new - there have been about 3 - 4 incarnations of their API released to the public so far. They've all sucked, though, so maybe this try will be better..

themadwriter 10-26-2009 03:48 AM

definitely a bank breaker!

After Shock Media 10-26-2009 11:57 AM

Well when it can communicate with other shit like say a vending machine or gas pump then ya I will get excited. You know basically talk to a credit card/ATM type machine. Like the ATM cards that have those chips in them.
Then again someone with make an Ap just for that and the iphone/android and get rich.
