I'm still here and radiation treatment sucks, but

So just to update everyone on my battle against the cancer in my tongue. The chemo treatment was tough, radiation treatment was worse, recovering from it even worse and I'm still not out of it. Imagine losing the ability to eat, drink and talk because the inside of your mouth was burned. Plus a few other unpleasant things. :Oh crap

I'm coming out of the worse now and even sitting at a computer and able to type. :)

Eva has been the rock that has kept me going, looked after me when I could not look after myself, cared for our daughter, home and business. There is no way I will ever be able to repay her. But I will try.

I am guessing another 4-6 weeks before I'm really over this and in around 6 weeks I go for the scan to see if it's beaten the cancer. Everyone including the doctors is positive about the results.

My advice to males over the age of 40 and sexually active women is to get regular checks catch the trouble early. Seeing some of the patients who did not is scary.

Good luck Paul.

At least you don't need to have them stick small radioactive isotopes in your sac; could always be worse!

You are so right about getting tested. Early detection is the key.

Studies are predicting increases in cancer for all age groups, with minorities getting hit particularly hard.

Watching family members who have gone through treatment in the past and my Step-Father going through treatment right now I can sympathize with your situation and wish you a speedy and full recovery!

Nikki_Licks 10-27-2009 08:33 AM

Good luck to you.....Did you find out the possible reason for catching cancer of the tongue? The only reason I could think of is smoking....There isn't enough foul pussy in the world that you could've licked on to do that.

grumpy 10-27-2009 10:54 AM

heads up man

I had no idea it was going to be so tough, without Eva to help me I would of been beaten by it. Sounds extreme and I always thought myself a tough determined guy. The treatment is very hard, over the worse now and who knows I might be able to enjoy some turkey for Xmas. And other things. :winkwink:

Naechy 10-27-2009 11:21 AM

Good to hear you are doing better Paul!

I tried to get a check for Colon Cancer and my doctor refused saying I was too young! I guess I am going to have to pay for it myself but I will do it. A GF of mine has colon cancer and she is in her early 40s like me.

SGS 10-27-2009 02:43 PM

BVF, did you mean 'genetic predisposition condition' rather than 'catching' cancer?

Paul Markham best wishes, and I hope all goes well :)
