WTF with PayPal's Rolling Reserve
Just logged into one of my business accounts and they have some notice about a 10% rolling reserve in place now. I rarely use PP, but when I do it is typically for website, or content deals (i.e. bigger dollar transactions).
I mention that last part thinking maybe that has something to do with the reserve? Bigger dollar amounts, bigger risks? :disgust |
Didn't see that, but I did get a call from them about my account. Got it on my voice mail. I usually keep my balance low so if they pull any funny stuff I'm not out too much.

I keep little to no money in my ePass or PP accounts. I do have my business accounts linked so if I need to pay for something, I can cash it out right then. But when receiving payments, I always pull the money out. Either DEBIT or transfer to bank account. Guess PP wants protection for their charge back happy clients. :disgust |
Whatchu talkin bout footsie?

Are you selling memberships or ebooks?
I checked mine and I do not get that. Not bitching of course. |
They hit a lot of ebay sellers with the same BS starting maybe 1.5-2 years ago. It's one of the MANY reasons that I canceled my ebay and PP accounts.

But, 90% of my PP transactions I use PP for are for design work, or buying and selling websites, or content, etc.. Typically bigger dollar transactions then I would assume most use it for. |
Must be because your DVD stuff.
I was not hit and I use it a whole damn lot. Both ebay and now for our vending. I had to take advantage of my grandfathered in cash back rebate I have locked in. Extra profit margin, ya know. |

Or could be the dollar amounts. When you are pushing larger dollars through, maybe they consider it high risk or higher risk and that is where you get flagged. I have run through 5000-10,000.00 though there and never had an issue. Although I prefer WIRE or escrow on bigger dollar transactions. I still pay/received decent dollar amounts on occasion for design, scripts, content, etc. though my PP. But I really try and stay away from both EPASS and PP for anything over $500.00. |

Then to just fill 30 machines 1/4th of the way full (not enough) it is roughly 2k in candy costs and that will last maybe 2 weeks. I barely have time to keep it loaded. |

Imagine the interest they can collect from suddenly hitting everyone with a 10% rolling reserve and ask yourself why they only keep it for 60 days :winkwink:
Then be happy next time you hit some fraudsters selling bogus products with paypal payments that now they have an actual reserve to refund you from |

Going over the chargebacks (1-2)% would eliminate the the scammer or fraud companies. Once you have too many of those, they would drop you. Although, I suppose there is the occasional person who does a charge back, or some fraud, and tries to run out on it. But I would be that is a small percentage of users. It would be interesting to see the real numbers on fraud or something situational like that. Whether processor, or a PP, EPASS, etc.. |
Did you have any chargebacks in the past?

this is one reason I dont use paypal.
i removed my bank account from there after reading some shady business that happened with someones account. I used to sell ebooks a while ago and had to go through an extensive verification process because I was doing $5k a month in business and they charges were all the same amount. during that time when my account was frozen, I had to shut down shop because I wasnt sure if i was going to get the money, so I had people disputing the charge with paypal, then they closed my account until they could futher investigate my business. they asked me for a business model and what I did... such a pain in the ass IMO |

Not only do you take the time to follow my every move, and read my threads. You waste your time commenting on them, and in the end nothing is going to change. Define irony. :pimp |

I do not mind having to fax in the passport and docs into EPASS, PP whatever as I have had to do in the past. But once I fax in the docs, I expect minimal grief. However, as has been said in other threads. EPASS/PP/others are not a financial institutions, nor regulated, like a bank. So your 'trust' can go either way. But that is a two way street. Oh well. Pay for the convenience I suppose. Blame the economy like everyone else. :1orglaugh |

He asked a pretty simple question that had to do with an online billing company. People that were interested such as myself talked. Seems the rest of the posts are all people wanting to start a fight or him deflecting them. Unless of course people are going to give him credit for getting views from him posting anywhere, due to his followers of people that hate. Now if this was one of his quasi spam threads or out right buy my shit threads I perhaps could understand. It wasnt. Quote:
I have had my account locked twice, both times opened right back up. Also am positive damn near every story about people bitching how they fucked them clearly broke their TOS in a major way - ebay purchases withstanding as they can fall either direction and a seller ALWAYS should buy insurance no matter what a buyer selects or pays for. BTW I have had my account unfrozen after hours on the weekend. Rarely is it an issue that even takes 24 hours. |

I just happened to ask for names and established contact with a woman several years ago. Never hurts to ask who you are talking to and to ask for them each time. |

Only if someone is insistent, or they are in one of those eastern block countries where it is more convenient for them to pay that way. Otherwise, I prefer WIRE or escrow.com depending on the transaction type. |
