Always get shipping insurance: Laptop stolen out of the package from UPS

Ordered a Macbook Pro from the apple.ca website, and I got a package today from UPS with just a box, no laptop inside.

Called UPS up to bitch and they told me I have to deal with Apple

Thank god Apple has great customer support and is taking care of the whole thing

Fuck shipping companies and their shady employees!

It's so easy for them to pull that shit especially when the outside of the box clearly states "DELL" or any other company most of the time.

shit happens all the time

That's what you get for buying an overpriced gimmicky product.

After Shock Media 10-29-2009 03:13 PM

I will say the reverse.

As a seller online or mail order. ALWAYS purchase insurance, even if the customer declines it at the time of purchase. Especially if you use ebay. Insurance really is there to protect the seller anyways and not the buyer. The buyer often already has options at their disposal, from opening it with UPS present, to credit cards, to making someone prove they delivered it.

We normally use FedEx and have never ever had a problem, not once in 9 years!

Used UPS a few times lately and twice they have completely screwed up!!

Wilsy 10-29-2009 03:17 PM

Thats sucks man

dav3 10-29-2009 03:40 PM

wow man, thats fucking terrible. hopefully you get the machine that you paid for, without additional costs to you.

might be going a bit far with the hoping here, but hopefully the jerkoff that stole it gets fired.

I recently ordered a HDR-FX7 directly from Sony's website and that was my biggest fear was that living in LA, someone at UPS here locally would try to steal my new video camera since the box had Sony written all over it. Fortunately enough it arrived untouched. Definitely worth getting insurance on big ticket items.

A couple years ago I bought a PS2 for my mom and it mysteriously disappeared in the truck. Best Buy was kind enough to ship another one. I have a laptop coming today, I hope it's in the box LOL

bbwdollars 10-29-2009 04:47 PM

i also had a laptop stolen out of an IBM box from a UPS employee

Sharky 10-29-2009 05:28 PM

mY Macbook pro arrived just fine... However in comment to an earlier post, it was in a brown box that didn't say apple anywhere on it.

I'm loving my new macbook. Bought it from my neighborhood dealer, he always sells the coolest shit out of the truck of his car at the best prices.

Did you sign for a empty box?

Taking care of it eh... So say I order a Macbook pro and it gets "stolen" by "someone else", I call apple and complain and get a free one?

I had a UPS driver come up to me in San Diego, i was downtown having lunch and he wanted to know if needed any Tommy Bahama silk shirts and trousers $15.00 each. The trousers alone are around $150.00 retail!

I was wondering about this too.. when my PS2 was missing Best Buy didn't even ask any questions. I said "the package never arrived" and they said "we'll send another one out right away!". There has to be some sort of fraud prevention in place for this but who knows.

I got my laptop yesterday, it was in the box, hooray for unmarked packages :upsidedow

Yeah, I think if it felt empty I would refuse to sign but not sure if that would help the situation or not. I prefer not to have big ticket items sent through the mail.

punker barbie 10-30-2009 11:43 AM

i knew a handfull of UPS guys and they would always talk about the drugs and stuff they would confiscate without reporting.

Bojangles 10-30-2009 11:53 AM

That's cheap as fuck. I hope you get everything sorted out, man. I would be very pissed.
