traffic cash a nominee in the sponsorship category is funny. they cancelled my account because i asked them where my two $35 cheques were. one of them i recieved a few months earlier and they printed it wrong and had to send it back.

So did I??? maybe it's "Down" now...:1orglaugh

opflix 12-13-2002 06:10 PM

sorry, but i'll never respect awards shows until whoever designs them stops sucking DICK & does the shit objectively. half the mofos on this joint PROBABLY don't deserve an award & the other half are nominated simply because they "know people". every awards show is like that & any1 fooling themselves otherwise needs 2 snatch their thumb outta their ass.

no... i'm not bitter cuz i wasn't nominated. i prefer cash vs awards. that is all.

Well yeah they are good enough in my opinion. But we made a very strict rule that no HELMY employee was allowed to nominate a site nor was a HELMY site allowed to win. And webinc.com wasn't submitted to us either by their staff or by webmaster community

Nominees were accepted via the XBiz Awards site and only by this method. No sites were added that were not submitted via the site. Press Releases were emailed out and I even posted on a couple boards (GFY Included) about it with the hopes that everyone would go out and submit the sites that they thought were excellent or deserving.

I wanted this to be so that everyone could be involved. Both big names and smaller companies. Just because a company has a big name doesn't always mean they're better. You might have a company that's hardly heard about that's just kick ass, ya never know and vise versa.

As far as judges go, I wanted a wide variety there as well. Both big names in the business as well as some that you don't hear from to often. That way it'd be a more unbiased Judging process. No judge was allowed to vote in the specific category that they are directly involved or work in.

Given the over all picture, I think this has been one of the most fairly done Awards that there is.

Mutt 12-15-2002 03:50 AM

what a freakin joke......anybody who knows anything about any one of or all the categories knows that. No effort was put into trying to find the best and the brightest.

and yeah Travolta's people are going to be thrilled.

princess 12-15-2002 03:54 AM

Sorry mutt you're wrong.

Every webmaster had a say. They were free to submit the sites they thought were best.

I didn't think it would be fair to just preselect sites for judges to vote on. That's why it was adult community submissions.

Maybe in the next round of awards you'll be more involved? Judge perhaps? I'd certainly love to have you. =)

funkmaster 12-15-2002 03:59 AM

"travolta's agent should be pleased"

... I thought that too.

Mutt 12-15-2002 04:03 AM

here's a thread about one outstanding company in the content category

http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showth...ght=CyberSe x

and there's another thread somewhere here from a camgirl who says they screwed her over totally.

and how does Webinc not register on your radar screen in the design category? do you know how much business Webinc does a year? How many designs?

princess 12-15-2002 04:11 AM

Did you even visit XBiz Awards to see who is actually listed in the top 7?

I think our judges did one hellva job on weeding through the sites.

funkmaster 12-15-2002 04:13 AM

" and how does Webinc not register on your radar screen in the design category? do you know how much business Webinc does a year? How many designs?"

... just blame it on the talibans.

princess 12-15-2002 04:20 AM

funkmaster hon, did you not read my post? where I explained why they didn't show up?

I know they're excellent stuff. You're not telling me anything I haven't known for awhile. There's lots of excellent design companies. But in order to be up for the award they have to be nominated.

:winkwink:

funkmaster 12-15-2002 04:27 AM

princess, I did and I wasn´t refering to your post ... like every year you guys are doing an outstanding job ... we´ve had a link up to xbiz for ages !!

Mutt 12-15-2002 04:31 AM

Webair?

where is National-Net?

well at least they got Hot Amateur Mpegs in there in the content category so it's all good :1orglaugh

i know it's an impossible task for political reasons as much as any other.

i think awards are dumb to start with.............awards connected to porn even dumber.

ever seen an AVN Awards show where the 18 year old runaway junkie is standing their in her evening gown weeping tear of joy for just winning the Best Double Anal Scene By An Ingenue?

if somebody really wanted to do it right - it would be run like the Academy Awards - only people involved in one area of the business would be allowed to nominate and vote in their area of expertise - designers would nominate designers, content people would nominate and vote on content providers etc -

what does People's Choice mean? Is this a surfer's point of view award?

princess 12-15-2002 04:31 AM

funkmaster, I'm sorry my mistake dear. I went back and read your post and it was my phuck up. Sorry about that. I think that means it's bed time for me. I've been up all night working on my family sites.

:winkwink:

Once again read my reply from eariler hon. They weren't nominated. You should have done the honors for them. =)

It's a category for sites that didn't fall into the other categories that were listed... (link list, TGP's etc...) It's nominated on by the webmaster community.

Hey I welcome all suggestions and I'll most certainly keep that in mind for next years awards. If you have more I'm all ears. [email protected]

:winkwink:

henrythefifth 12-15-2002 10:59 AM

considering the awards process you guys put together such as community submitted sites only, that your staff played no part in nominations or judging, and the variety of judges i think you guys have killer job.

im sure there's room for refining things every year, but its as close to unbiased as any online awards program can get IMO.

:2 cents:

SteveLightspeed 12-15-2002 12:42 PM

Congratulations to all the nominees, there are many many fine companies listed.

I'm looking forward to Internext and the Xbiz party!

Gonzo... How are you bro?? ;)

You are correct in that we do not pay much attention to awards and such........it is more important to pay attention to our customers.

About half of those nominated in the web hosting category I have heard of...and of that half there are some very good people listed so I am sure that the award will go to a deserving company.

Todd (STK)....don't sweat it, my friend.....you will find that the longer you are here and the bigger you get the less people think about you.....you become a staple. How many times have your kids said "Thanks for knocking out the rent, Dad!" or "Appreciate you making that light bill, Dad!"???? It's a given.

To all of those nominated...congrats and good luck!

boneprone 12-15-2002 09:53 PM

How much $$ do you want or need to get the Boneprone Famliy listed in the People's choice section??

Who are these "people" and what do they do for the people that the family doesnt and can't??

No one does more for the people than the family..

No one.

How much you want.

We can come up with the money.
We are the only group that truely is a group of the people.

boneprone 12-15-2002 09:55 PM

I personally consider myself a man of the people..

Much Like Jesus was before I.
